Got my next sketch for the AC art show worked up - She's a vixen in a tight black bodysuit, wielding two Colt Python .357 magnum revolvers - I decided to go with the 8" barrel versions, even though the 6" is more standard, because girls with huge guns are awesome.
Anyways, guns aren't a strong suit of mine - and I did a fair bit of research to get this far, but I'm sure another few sets of eyes could help me refine the guns, and the overall piece.
As far as the color scheme goes, I was thinking of having a purplish background, and the character mostly in silvers and greys (with purples reflected from the background, but also with a strong bright light blue-green highlight coming from the bottom left.. so the coloring should help make the piece more dynamic and bold than the lineart is currently. Or at least thats my idea so far.

Looks awesome :3
The angle of her left hand (the one behind the tail) looks a little weird to me, though, as does the head-- it seems like it should be pointed a bit lower and to the left. Her crotch also looks kind of lumpy like she's wearing a maxi pad or something, but that might just be me XD

Thank you ^.^ What is it about the hand that is odd? I tried a couple of different face/muzzle angles while sketching - and this was the one that I liked the expression the most (i didnt want her to be smiling, or look comically grumpy)... I do agree that it could use revisiting.. but its a tricky angle so I might not get it right
I don't know, exactly... I'm really bad at conveying things to people ^^'
I also tend to get bothered by things that are just slightly off so it might just be me; looking at the hand again the position makes sense. I think the head could be turned away just a tiny bit, but then you'd lose some of her face. For some reason looking at her makes my neck hurt a little XD
Whatever you do will be epicsauce, though~

I just had an idea regarding her head ^.^ instead of moving her muzzle much (i shortened it a little to make it look like its a little more foreshortened away from the viewer), I thought what if I move the further ear, and the bottom of the back of the head slightly to the right so the back of her head looks to be more at the same angle as her muzzle....
Thank you =D I might not have revisited that had you not mentioned it...
I think I might diminish her crotch a smidge, too.

If people keep pointing out certain things looking like they're at weird angles and you want to address them, you need some sculpted maquettes of some of your more commonly-drawn shapes. You can use them to reference an angle and to reference different degrees of foreshortening with a viewfinder made out of cardboard. You can get close for exaggerated perspective or farther away for less exaggeration. Or if you want to get fancy you can get a set of lenses with different focal lengths.
I see what s/he is trying to say. Her left hand looks like its twisted at an angle backwards. When shes holding the guns like that, the handles should form a bit of a V shape. The hand the way its facing now looks a little unnaturally twisted back. The front of it should be facing forward more and the back should be a bit further back.
Do some looking around at holsters. The two important things for her are guarding the trigger/hammer against accidentally snagging something and going off, and retention--staying put, which just going in the belt just won't do.
Something like this:
http://www.holsters4guns.com/holste.....uct/UMK63.html
would let the barrel hang out when the gun is in it, but it would be low profile, especially when the guns are out, not making much more than a bump. If that bump gives trouble aesthetically, you might give her a couple of extra pouches--no one goes into a fight without extra ammo, and that can range from loose rounds to "speedloaders" and "speed strips" in appropriate pouches. Those pouches might help with the belt's lines.
An alternative would be to give her an upper body harness and have her carry under the armpits. Those guns are not suited for concealing, but you have more of a "where to put it" than "how to hide it" issue here.

I dunno. I understand that attention to detail is important to you, but your artistic intent was clearly to give her a sleek outfit that I suspect you might draw with bright reflections as if it were shiny.
Those Magnums are kind of big for it, but maybe we can just imagine she has something like this:

I'd hate to have the aesthetic of a good drawing ruined by gun nerds.

Hmm. First bit of commentary - the grips look sized for her hands - a good thing. Don't know if you're familiar with this, but the standard ratios you'll find on a picture on the web tend to deal with a "standard" grip - sized for a achetypical man's hand. If she's serious about using these things with deadly aim, they'll have a grip suited to her own hands - meaning the gun will probably look a little "big" in her hand compared to the grip and her body.
Other thing I'm noticing is we're looking at them pretty much directly side-on, which suggests we're looking at her from around butt-level (was going to add "from behind" to this, but... well, duh!). Not sure if this is what you intend... it does agree with our perspective on her booty giving us a glimpse of her crotch in that outfit, it's the shoulders where there could be some problems. Also, looks like she's, well, got her own set of big guns up front, just from us being able to catch a glimpse of one from behind with her back barely turned like this.
I really do like this piece, though. I think it's got more dynamics than you're giving it credit in your comments, just not as much fluid and graceful motion like you usually do. More to the point of "Bam. I'm here." than anything.

 i basically drew them using the grips and her hands as the measurement for size... with the reference photos that I was able to acquire.
The biggest problem with drawing guns, for me, is if I want to do a specific angle, I have to find a reference picture of it at that angle - which is why they're perfect side views here... I figured it was better to have a 'flat' angle, and have the guns still look 'correct', than to have an interesting angle, but do it wrong... I wonder if I raise her right shoulder slightly, and lower her left ear, that it will put the figure in the right perspective for a butt level view ^.^.
Thank you for your comments =)

I'd suggest talking to a gun shop. You'll have to look around a bit, counter guys range all over, but it shouldn't be hard to find someone willing to help you get pictures at specific angles if you need it.
If nothing else, there's a group of gun furs that's been trying to do a range trip during Anthrocon. They did it last year, IIRC, and might be doing it this year.

Comparing this with my RL Python, your illustration is spot on! Oh, and if you want the firearmese terms, the additional rounded part under the barrel is called the underlug, and the cooling vents are called a ventilated rib. The reason they're added is to add weight to the muzzle, which helps control the recoil. (More inertia = less 'kick'.) As far as markings, under the Python rollmark on the left side of the barrel is * 357 MAGNUM CTG * (the stars are five-pointed) in much smaller letters and on the left side is COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO HARTFORD, CONN, USA if you want to go into that level of detail. And I have to ask if these were going to be nickel or royal blue? Nickel might be the easier color to do, the royal blue has a unique luster to it.
Thank you =D. And thanks for the terms - and explanation of their function ... I feel silly sometimes describing things visually, not really knowing what they are. But I like to draw a great variety of things, including those I don't know much about, and I tend to learn some that way too...
I must have forgotten the smaller print - I remember seeing it, I'll have to add that in, thanks - and I was planning on doing the nickel finish..

Looks like she's packing some serious heat! They look like S&W 500's to me, though I have no reference picture with me as I make this comment. Anyways, S&W 500 = .50 caliber revolver that, when fully loaded, weighs five pounds and probably has some insane kick as it puts a half inch diameter slug through whatever is unfortunate to be on the wrong end of the barrel.
If you're interested in actually handling one of these, make a trip to Sportsman's Warehouse. There's one in Salem, I don't know about Portland.
Handling one, and being able to take pictures at various angles to suit your needs, will allow you to show them better and more realistically.
Kudos on the trigger control, that's a big safety thing.
I wish I could afford to buy this one from you ... *sigh*

Such a cosmic coincidence...
I've been writing about "Star Hunters" -- space-going volunteer pirate hunters -- who prefer all black. And I've started the story of one Wilma "Killer" Kane, a digitigrade vixen who will prefer two one-handed guns over a single larger one.
I'll be watching for the finished version.

Note: I tend to be a bit blunt when I critique. It's something that's been pointed out to me and I'm working on. Please try not to take offence, as I honestly don't mean to give it. I am just giving my honest opinion on the work.
Personally, I've never liked the whole "hole in the pants" setup. I just think it'd be a pain in the rear (yes, pun intended) to have to shove that fluffy tail through it every morning, especially since there's only so much direct control you have over it. I think it makes more seve to have a "U" shaped dip back there with a thick strap that goes across and connects the waistline, but that's just personal opinion. I mean, seriously; look at how thick and floofy that tail is, and what a small hole that is by comparison. That, and with the curvature of her butt cheecks, it looks almost like it's half coming out of her butt to me. After all, the curve that indicates that fine rear reaches up nearly to the base of her tail. The tail should come out of the base of her spine, which should be at her hip, which should be right below the belt. The belt should rest at/above the hip, and the tail is clearly 2-4 inches below that. Then again, I can't draw anatomy for the life of me, but that's just what I see. Wait...is that a belt at the top of the tail hole? Meaning the size of the hole can be adjusting bigger or smaller? If so, disregard my thoughts on her clothing, as that actually does look like a sound design on my second look.
The guns are some of the finest drawn renditions of guns I've seen in a long time, and I think you made a fine choice of gun here. Those revolveres look intimidating. However, I think you might need to adjust the positions of the hands. Both firearms are perfectly perpendicular to the viewer, but her left hand looks to be at a distint angle to the viewer, making the grip look rather awkward as they don't seem to line up. With the placement of the knuckles on the right hand being off center as well, it too gives the impression of being tilted away from the viewer, yet the guns are perfectly facing us and not angled.
I too am not sure what that little "bulge" is that appears to be between her legs, as I would think that area would be rather smooth, but that I am far less certian of beyond the fact that my mind keeps telling me nothing should be there.
I love the work you did with the creases, giving a great deal of form to the figure and showing the shoulderblades though the suit. The right shoulder though looks just a little to "bumped up" to me, as though her shoulders were protruding out. I think it should be smoothed just a little bit.
The hair and head I think you can keep as is, and I love all the little loose strands that make it look real, give it volume, and just looks cool. The pose, simple as it is, really works for her as well. The composition and the color scheme you mention sound really cool as well. And just a thought; what about holsters that rest against the small of her back, just above her back? Keeps them out of sight from the front and keeps her front/back profile slim. That belt looks rather tight, and shoving such big guns in there would not be very secure, and likely rather uncomfortable.

Thanks for your feedback ... the opening for her tail in the pants did have a belt thingie over it, but I think it maybe wasnt apparent enough so I redesigned that area...
Also, thanks for explaining about the hands - i'm changing that too.. Others had mentioned the left hand, but I wasn't really able to picture what they were saying, but I understand now
I've slightly diminished the crotch bump (because of the tightness of her pants and the angle, you'd see it, but I think i gave it a little too much emphasis there ^.^)
I'm thinking I might go ahead and add in some thigh holsters. I wasn't going to, originally, but enough people have mentioned them, and I may as well try 'em and see if I like how they look before continuing to dismiss the idea. As far as holsters on the lower back, I think that would be a great idea, except that the guns are quite big so I'm not sure how that would work, and it would likely obscure her cute butt, or be uncomfortable for her to draw from ...

The belt will likely be more noticable when it's colored. I've found that without color, certain details don't stand out to the eye as much. I just overlooked the belt completely at first, due partially to my (perhaps a little biased) opinions of furry clothing.
As for the holsters, with guns that big, she's going to need to have some place to put them at some point. I'd recommend image searching "small of back holser" and looking at some of those designs. I think the vertical ones that half tuck into the pants would look really good on her, and carry some of the feel of sticking them in her belt that you'd mentioned before. However, the ones I've seen are for smaller semi-autos, so you may need to take the basic design and expand on it a bit, creating your own custom design that works for her. If she needs to bend backwards for any reason, such a holster would likely complicate that with guns that big. Still, something to think about.
Anyway, glad to help.

The only thing I see with the guns is that the hands look a little awkward. From that angle I don't think you'd be able to see the side of the thumb. The plane of the side of the thumb is usually, when holding a handgun, even with or lower than the plane of the side of the forefinger. You shouldn't be able to see where the thumb is wrapped to the side of the grip.
The last image on this site is a good illustration of what I'm trying to explain.

Lovely guns, and even lovlier picture of the lady, but one thing I noticed about the guns.
Have you ever had the chance to pick up a couple of revolvers? They're heavy for what they are. It just seems like her arms are going to be lifting them up soon, because if you were standing with revolvers, and just going to be standing there, not pointing them up or putting them down (if that makes any sense whatsoever)for me at least, I hold them a little lower. But it's all just perspective from my standpoint, and I could be completely off about the whole matter. I still love this piece.
~Note: I said the stuff about the revolver because of some (little) experience with a S&W .500

Thank you =D..
I've held a few guns, and they are rather heavy .. but I figure if she's tough enough to prefer to use two of them, then she should be able to work with them well ... And picturing in my head what the piece would look like if they were lowered, i think the image would give her pose and disposition less 'energy'...

Well, if you had to do "considerable research" to get this far with the guns, you could have fooled me, I'm impressed. Fingers off the trigger, at the ready.
One big sin of handgun operation is allowing a limp wrist or fingers. Good tight control is key. One big external signal that you have that control is if the meat between your thumb and index finger, where your pencil shaft normally rests, should be lumped, wrinkled, and highly visible. This should even show through those gloves, heck the gloves might even need extra padding on that spot to help her. So the skin just below where the hammer of the gun is, really tightly packed. Your knuckles also may be white. The trigger finger itself, though, should be controlled and relaxed, you have that part mastered :)
Not a flaw, but an "upgrade", from the Colt Python to the Taurus Raging Bull firing the .454 Casul round... no other reason than it's... bigger... much bigger... Elephant problem? No problem... KABOOOOFHF It's not much of a change, still a big J-frame revolver. Has a red stripe on the handle and a big logo on the barrel :) Just a suggestion, the .357 Magnum was the Dirty Harry gun, so highly respectable still.

to be frank I never found that more power= better gun, sure the .454 casull is a respectable round....but it´s useless if ya can´t hit anything then all that power is for nothing, problem with the .454 casul is that after one shot unless your the worlds strongest man the recoil has thrown of your aim so much my enemy could pull of several rounds between each one I shoot.
I prefer revolvers from WW2 and further back. Good, easy to handle recoil, able to carry more ammo and all in all a sleaker design that still can kill a man in 1-2 shots.

GODDAMN IT GUYS JUST LET IT GO.
we can all be gunwhores about this but ffs it's an artistic piece. If she was going for realism she'd say so. It's a movie-hotshot biker chick so she'll probably do whatever the hell she wants with those revolvers. (maybe not that- no- I don't even).
Critique about the hands is all legitimate though, for her left hand, the top of the revolver should be tilting away.

Everyone else has covered the stuff I would've mentioned if they hadn't gotten there first, so I'll just mention that your chosen title got Fatboy Slim's "Weapon of Choice" stuck in my head. Thanks a lot...
(On the other hand, getting an earworm out of my head usually involves playing the song, so I'll just fire up the video I have of it and enjoy Christopher Walken rocking that hotel. :-D )
