Almost any illusionist worth their salt has some form of affection for the spooky season, and Enigma is no different. There's no better test of one's magical prowess than conjuring specters, phantoms, and mirages that can frighten and fool even the most discerning eye.
Though a magician is loathe to reveal their secrets, one of Enigma's is that he combines illusion with practical effect to further bolster the immersion in those who witness his handiwork. It promises to be another exciting year, and he's hard at work so that he's ready when people come to his door looking for a treat.
It would not do for an illusionist to be upstaged on this, of all nights.

I wonder how many people there are visiting him, with such skills in mindbending it's clear that you sign yourself up for a quality spook, people probably learned that over the years, so either nobody goes there because they know what to expect, or everyone goes there, also because they know what to expect xD

Enigma has garnered a reputation for never settling for pulling the same trick multiple times, always attempting something new and exciting.
Since he is a professor at a major academic institution, his visitors skew heavily in favor of college-aged kids, and they have a tendency to bring their younger siblings with them, so he scales the fright factor accordingly.

I also thought, it would be possible for Enigma to make treats that taste exceptionally good, taste is also a sense like sight or hearing and if he can manipulate those, why not also do something to the taste of treats? It would be visiting his house extra rewarding for those who are brave enough :)
