The lyrics are sarcastic straight away from the very first line. It starts off asking questions about people using the stars to create prophecies even though the skies are currently littered with artificial lights that weren't always there. A comparison is made between celebrities who acquired their level of stardom through globalization and modern technology. Both artificial lights and celebrities are compared to as "Satellite Stars." The term is a pun and a metaphor; both literal and figurative.
This is the first song I wrote that incorporated the keys in the manner it does and as a result single-handedly changed my style of musical composition overnight, so it has sentimental value to me.
Satellite Stars
Ooh, yeah!
In the second millennium
We're tracing steps from ten-thousand years ago
Between the start and the end so near
How many died before they faced that fear?
Seems to be the age old question
Asked so long by so many so often
The more things change the more they stay the same
And stale lifestyles still drive the need for change
Now spread the message
Near and far
The end was written
In the stars
I often wonder if this was what mankind
Ever imagined the future would be
I look beyond the moon within the night sky
The void lit up with satellite stars
And in this moment I've taken for granted
It never occurs that something has changed
Did anyone notice?
Who could ever guess?
Life on the Earth casting craters on Mars, yeah!
Extra! Extra! Read what was said
This just in from the world wide web
Media's killing the video star
Looks nor talent can get you far, no
This device made me complete
This device took it from me
Satellites shining from far
Satellites shining their stars
Off the record I've new for you
Your fifteen minutes are on the Tube
Live in an act that the critics destroy
Your personal life's for the world to enjoy
I often wonder if this was what mankind
Ever imagined the future would be
I look beyond the moon within the night sky
The void lit up with satellite stars
And in this moment I've taken for granted
It never occurs that something has changed
Did anyone notice?
Who could ever guess?
Life on the Earth casting craters on Mars
Now spread the message
Near and far
The end was written
In the stars
Now spread the message
Near and far
The end was written
By the stars
I often wonder if this was what mankind
Ever imagined the future would be
I look beyond the moon within the night sky
The void lit up with
The void lit up with satellite stars
And in this moment I've taken for granted
It never occurs that something has changed

Who could ever guess?
