Artober2020 Day 23: Soundwave
Ink on Paper
Transformers fan art today! It's Soundwave and his cassette bird, Buzzsaw (or Laserbeak, since it's black and white, I just like Buzzsaw better). Mix of pens and brushes on this one, again. I'm not used to drawing super boxy characters, so it was a little bit of a struggle. Usually I can hide my crimes with nice soft curves.
This piece is for sale, $50, if anyone's interested! All of the Artober2020 pieces are for sale, starting on Patreon, then moving here!

Now that's HOT.
Tangent: I can definitely see why watching G1 these days could be difficult, it's aged a bit poorly even for what it already was - though, the 1986 movie remains amazing I think. :> Even though I can see how bad G1 is now, it's weird though, the Cybertronians were like my friends and family back then, so there's such hard nostalgia I just end up going "Wow this is even worse than I remember from last time.... *rewatches anyway*" XD XD

The 86 movie would have been a highlight to any series, I think. It definitely held up better than the series proper. I'd not seen in in years and years, but my gf likes it, so I got a copy for her, recently, and have rewatched it as a result. How did that not just mess up every child who saw it? They got away with pure horror thanks to the cast being robots, not 'people', and that blows my mind.
I think it was a bit controversial at the time because of that, and certainly plenty of kids and folks were upset by parts! That's why they resurrect Optimus Prime in the series, they realized killing him was a terrible mistake. XD I know I had tears the first time I ever saw it when I was wee! But I also thought it was amazing the battles were finally having actual consequences. XD
