Jerry has always been a good kitty, my guardian cat from not long after we met, he chose me to be the one who received his affection, the one to bring lizards and squirm babies too. He's always looked out for me and been protective, a gentleman walking me to the bus stop every day since I was about 10 years old. He came to me from a neighbors home, probably to see all the female cats around my circle. He'd make sure I got on the bus, and would be there waiting for me when I got off, this went on through high school. He also helped to choose my boyfriends oddly enough, if he didn't approve he would get very upset at the other male and hiss and try to bite them if they attempted to touch him, the ones he likes, he would allow them to pet and hold him. He became the Tom of the circle, much as Frisky was the queen but she wasn't his mate, his girl of choice was a very chubby kitty named Whitney, she had a HUGE belly but he loved her, n groomed her n bred her, even though they were both fixed... When I got in college and stayed out late, I would come home and he would be waiting for me, like a father who stayed up all night waiting on his daughter to get home, he was always loyal and that amazed me, hes a wonderful cat and is now 17 years old. We had an awful scare about a month ago though, Jerry is loosing his hearing in both ears, and was under my father's car... my father didn't see him and backed up over him..... Jerry's leg got caught under the wheel and popped his hip out, he ran off into the woods and my dad came inside almost crying and woke me to tell me, he used to say he hated that cat but had grown fond of him, we went out looking for him and found him laying down behind my neighbors house in their garden box, his leg bleeding. we took him to the ER and they said he was in bad shape.... my neighbors paid his exam bill etc, they tried putting th hip back in but it wouldn't stay. So, they took off his leg. and now he just had 3 and is hobbling along. It was weeks before I saw him again, and was worried terribly about him. 2 weeks ago I saw him for the first time in over a month in the back yard of my neighbors, they told me I could go see him, he was napping and lifted his head when I came back, he was very happy to see me. I went over and talked to him, petting him gently and he purred to me. I left after a few minutes and looked back, he looked very sad to see me go, the same sadness I saw in his eyes when his mate passed on....(he was depressed for over a year) since then I have seen him with his little buddy (a large male Siamese looking cat) and they have come over to see me, the Siamese looking after him like a nurse maid and showing affection and caring to him I rarely see in male cats, it's nice to know he's being looked after, the Siamese has even been looking after me it seems, he won't come near me often, but i have caught him watching me a lot. I'm glad Jerry is back out and on his feet, I missed my kitty...and i know he missed me.

Very sad to hear about his leg. :( I have a cat named Spatz or Granny as her nickname who I've had with me for 19 yrs, she used to be an outdoor cat but now she's been living indoors for a few years now due to her old age and loss of hearing.
I don't know how much longer she'll be around but I will enjoy every moment with her until the day she passes on.
