Goretober Day 23: Two-Faced
Goretober Day 23: Two-Faced
Character(s): Mafia!Boris
So this one is interesting. Probably a long post so bare with me!
Despite being a Mafia Boss, Boris isn't two-faced in a 'traditional' sense. So no backstabbing or betrayal or whatnot.
No, the phrase 'two-faced' is instead used to describe his emotions and, most importantly, his personality.
I'll explain.
As we all know, Boris is actually a decent human being. He's relatively easygoing, as well as genuinely kind and respectful, and cares very much about his loved ones(and himself of course, but to a lesser extent). He tries to help with things how he can to make life a little bit easier for those around him, especially since he knows any move or decision could mean the difference between life and death for some of them. If he were born in the south, he'd be the epidemy of a /male/ southern belle with his own form of southern hospitality. So yes, he could be considered a 'good' guy.
But that's only the personal/public half.
His other side is an almost complete 180 from his natural state. He can go from kind and caring to cold and ruthless in a heartbeat, and can be downright vicious and deadly with his actions and orders given the right circumstances. Dealing with him like this is NOT fun, and even his own wife of all people steers clear of him once he gets that hellfire glint in his eyes. Granted, most of these feelings emerge if something REALLY bad happens, and thankfully that isn't incredibly common.
He will generally be at the mercy of his own emotions at that point, and it's not at all advisable to even be in the same room if he loses his temper. That doesn't mean his usual seriousness when it comes to business isn't scary though, even if he does have control of his emotions. So far Mica seems to be the only one able to get through to him, but unfortunately she's either never in the room or too scared to even say anything(she does get better with it though).
So, all in all, he IS two-faced. He's an interesting mix of good and... well, not so good, ranging in that thin grey line of moral ambiguity depending on who or what he's dealing with. He can either be the most gentlemanly, family-oriented creampuff in the world, or your absolute worst nightmare topped with the rage of a hell lord and a sprinkle of terror.
He IS The King, and he won't let anyone forget that.
