Frankly I don't think we should care what they think. We're not Muslims, their laws only apply to us in their twisted imagination.

I don't care what they think, I was more thinking aloud; and though yes, we're not Muslims and true, their laws in THEORY only apply to us in their twisted imaginations, it doesn't stop them from going apeshit over the smallest of grievances and declare open death threats to anyone the please due to it. Death threats which are openly overlooked and practically accepted under the guise of radical religion, where as more sensible religions are viewed as wrong and immoral... pretty fucked up to me, and I think all religion is pointless... I guess I'm just hoping to avoid another South Park scenario like we've had recently.

I'm not talking about what is accepted in their culture. I understand, due to their religion and culture it's what is seen as normal, I'm talking about when acts like that happen over here and no one does a thing about it.

Ever since 2005, Muslims have made hundreds of death threats to anybody that have made an artistic depiction of the prophet muhammad. Back in April, Comedy Central got death threats and warnings from a muslim group that the creators of South Park will end up like Theo Van Gogh, a filmmaker who made a film criticizing the religion about abusing women wounded up shot and beheaded for this due to their latest episode mocking the mohammad self censorship. Someone on facebook created a group called Everybody Draw Mohammad Day in response to the current events. I myself am sick and tired of my freedom of speech being threatened by extremists of the islamic religion who wish freedom to go to thell.

The religion as a whole does NOT demand bloodshed. The belief in general is that a Muslim should not idolize Muhammad and therefore should not draw/care/sculpt/etc him. It's WGAS if a non Muslim does so. If some extremists go on a rampage, it doesn't mean the entire people want to kill those who decided to LULZ BANDWAGON TIEMZ! Just like when extremist Christians attempt to harm abortionists... it doesn't speak for the entire body of that faith.

The offensiveness is not from what he is doing, but rather that he is drawn at all. Many Islamic followers believe that making any portrayal of their prophet is blasphemous. That alone could be, and seems to be, upsetting many people. This is in a general sense, not necessarily specific to this picture. Many Muslims even add the line "peace be upon him" whenever they mention their prophet's name just to show further respect to him.

I hope that helps clear some things up.

I think he drew it jsut for the hell of it. There is no other motive, he saw the banner that said "Mohammad day" and though "I'll take a crack at it." an that's it nothing more nothing less. Nowhere in the qur'an does it say you can't draw muhammed infact unlike the bible it makes very few assertions as to what you can and can't do, most things that we come to associate with Islam stem from culteral interpretation, like wearing burka's or halal for example.

Like the individual who came up with the idea of draw muhammed day said "I have no intention of stirring up hatred and anger or making a political statement I merely wanted to make a sea of potential targets for extremists, they can't murder everybody and suggesting such marks them out as the lunatics they are."
