There is a lot of meaning behind ‘devil in the details’ that we cannot appreciate from the outside. It’s the little things, the odds and ends, the perfection from a fully finished task that takes something to another level. Anyone could open a bag of ramen noodles or microwave a hot dog and call it a meal and they would not be technically wrong. However, if you want to experience a sensation you must take time to prepare every step from start to end. It is more than just the food you prepare that makes the moment, it is also the atmosphere surrounding you, the presentation of both the meal and yourself as you partake of it. Holly was getting herself ready, not for a hot bowel of ramen as appealing as that maybe for some, but a dining experience. Preparation started with not the food but first herself. She picked out an outfit that let the Deer show off her sleek fur and unique pattern. Spots of white and brown dotting a warm cream color, not unlike a soothing coffeehouse drink, all be it a bit hotter.
Clean and set, Holly approved her final look before setting out to take care of the next step of her experience. It was no secrete there existed an unspoken divide among the modern classes of animals. This worst kept secret of herbivores and carnivores would be a prominent piece in this sensational time tonight as she passed up every salad bar and fruit stand for a nice ‘live cooking’ restaurant known for their fresh ingredients. There was somehow a delight in showing off that even one of histories most timid species could sit down in a den of wolves and consume fresh meat as they did. After walking in it didn’t take long for this captivating herbivore to take the attention of half the room. Most of them wondered if the main dish had walked in only to be shocked to see her seated at a table rather than on a plate. Holly took in the shocking glares from the crowed with a thin grin as she opened up the menu, reading over her options.
Holly took her time, drinking in the attention as if someone had set a glass of water in front of her. No one there knew it but her meal had already started, feeding off the attention, the looks and glances of the crowed as they wondered what in gods name could this plant muncher order off the list. She however already knew as Holly wanted fresh, she wanted the live catch served raw full of energy and drive that would feed into this increasingly euphoric meal she silently gorged on. The delay in her choice fed in perfectly to her desired atmosphere as conversations of each table became about her. It was time to let them off the hook as she placed her order.
The anticipation was palpable, another stage in the meal. Watching each plate come out of the room, wondering if it was hers until the waiter took a disappointing turn to another table. She felt all eyes on her as she waited, a herbivore’s sixth sense remained a holdover from a more savage time. Somehow though she remained composed, some of it was confidence that carnivores would seek out the easiest meal and she would be fine so long as she didn’t sit herself on their plate. The rest of it however was her focus on her own upcoming meal. Finally, with a muffled thud of ceramic on cloth she found two bound creatures staring back up at her and her incredibly noticeable pearly teeth showing.
Vixie an orange, pink haired vixen and Kadaire a brown otter were the first two on course. these small creatures bound up by a thick strap of seasoned green seaweed and rather sticky sushi rice. The scent of the rich vinegar sinking into their fur, adding to their overall aroma that had Holly’s mouth water. As driven to perfection as she was, the anticipation was a bit much and she let a bit of saliva drip off her lip. The two Micros gulped, though Vixie seemed a bit optimistic that this may be a blessing in disguise.
“O..ooh good, it’s a deer. She’s probably here to save us.” Vixie shyly mused, choosing to ignore the dripping maw over the plate. Kadaire glanced up, taking note of the horns and features that betrayed holly as a deer and for a second bought into Vixie’s optimism. Surely they thought, the most well known herbivore of herbivores was here to help and the two let out a shared hesitant sigh of relief. It was a short lived reprieve however when a fork crashed down on the plate, shocking Vixie to attention and leaving poor Kadaire screaming in terror.
“The catch of the day, a tasty otter and a juicy looking fox.” Holly mused, idly circling the plate with her fork. Vixie could see herself in the polished utensil as it passed in front of her. She couldn’t help but pull at her bindings more and give an almost audible gulp. Seeing herself reflected in a fork much less on the fork was not a desired look and she began to plead with her captive.
“Ye.yeah, about that. Maybe, please, help us get out of here? I know a little place we can get dinner and laugh about this! My treat” Vixie muttered out, voice shaking as she tried to peer up at the jawline above her from her bound position. Sadly though it seemed Holly wasn’t into negotiating.
“Sorry, I don’t listen to my food. I do hate it when it disagrees with me so best not give it the chance” Holly muttered down, stabbing at Kadaire. The otter screamed out as the sushi bunched in around his fur. The weight of the fork pressing it against him though instead of swallowing him up it seemed cut cut the seaweed bindings enough that he broke out. “Oh dear me, I should really be using chopsticks for this. Sushi was never meant for silverware.” Holly grinned down, almost amused to see Kadaire bolt not away but towards Vixie.
