Ink 20 #24/Story 12: Digging for the Truth
- “So? You’re going to answer or what?”
This switch w-was so sudden, I was lost for words.
I couldn’t respond, even if I wanted to.
I’ve- I’ve never seen this level, or ANY level, of smoldering intensity coming from Drystan before.
He raised his right hand and proceeded to hold my chin, caressing it with his thumb. It almost came off as an attempt to calm my nerves.
“Louvine. Remember what we said to each other when you decided to move in with me,
even though we only dated for a little under 3 weeks back then? -”
Despite my best efforts, my fight-or-flight response was kicking in.
My hand was under his scar that entire time, and my nails were slowly digging through his skin.
I could feel the warmth of his blood rubbing the edge of my fingers, yet he didn’t flinch whatsoever.
“We promised each other that for this relationship to work,
we would be allowed our secrets as long as it doesn’t involve the other’s safety and health.
I think that threshold might've been met, don't you think?”
He was staring daggers at me with what felt like an increasingly scarlet glint in his iris.
His hazel eyes are usually such a pleasant sight to gaze into,
still my gaze just instinctively went the other way as the intensity of the room became unbearable.
I can count on a single hand the humans I’ve ever been afraid off…
W-when did my hunky jolly pup make that list?...
