Just some personal stuff from a while back. I wanted to do at least one picture of Pax using his breath weapon. I don't go into it often but Pax does not breathe fire. He breathes out a cloud of dense mana.
He uses this cloud to put people to sleep as well as cast spells. When the cloud envelops someone, it effectively causes a sudden case of mana overload or mana poisoning. The shock to the system knocks people out. Pax tends to use it far more gently than what I am describing. It's like giving you a shot of good smooth alcohol to lull you to a state of calm rather than a couple rounds of straight vodka.
Pax's mana fluctuates and polarizes with magic around him. He can read the mana patterns around him and duplicate them in his breath. He does know some magic but holding a particular mana pattern in his head is hard and he's comfortable just puffing people into sleepyland.

Oh yeah. Parts of Pax's design do not conform with mainstream dragon traits. I made it so Pax is malformed because his scales can't block ambient mana which distorts his features. Like the flaps on his jawline. I actually have a pic of Pax's brother showing how he would have looked without his birth defects.
It's a bit of world building I reused from Moshtier's time. I wanted Moshtier's size to be explained as dragon mana reacting with non-dragon mana in halfbreeds. The union results in giants due to Dragon mana being so profound that it upscales anything it touches. Mana then sets the pattern of development for creatures and maintains their shape, giving them the subtle physics defying size they attain.
In my universe mana patterns determine some of a creature's shape. If too much mana is pushed into a pattern you can break it outright. A broken mana pattern can lead to mental disorders, inability to cast magic, increased risk of scars growing wildly, mutations and Coma. It can also cause rashs, burns and neuropathy.
