Its what makes them horny ;p, Fen and Lamb bathed in it in chapter one and got all horned up, and in chapter 2 or 3 the dragon Fen/Vix were fighting stepped into the water as well and got all horny. Keep in mind it usually only affects males, and well herms since they have male genetalia.
So the Aqanin sphere has a central archive? Does this mean that the other 3 elemental spheres also serve ulterior purposes? Hadalen was intended for unrestricted creation, Vitrin for teleportation (failed and summoned a demon), and now Aqanin for knowledge like a world-spanning library? What is the purpose of the other 3 then?
All the world's water seems to cycle through as far as I know at this point. The water at the temple is more affected due to the constant streaming. For the time being the water is still safe, so there are no known effects for mages using it that I know of at least. Fer may know of some though. ^_^
By reading some of the comments here, I'm guessing side effects include a warm tingly sensation set to the vibrations the essence is using to transfer energy through its processing units in the water. The sensation builds up in the wildlife and fauna over time to the point of being painful if not released in some way. Luckily with wildlife, I'm guessing that release valve is through magic or the base instinct to mate (go into heat/rut)? Maybe it's the same with the fauna?
