Left to right: Genevieve (werewolf), Reynard (werewolf), Nadya (werewolf), Lycaon (king of the werewolves), Ylva (half-werewolf slave), Nikolas (vampire), Rowan (werewolf slave).
These are the main characters I play on an RPG board, Moonless Night. It's set during the 1810's (about the same time period as Vanity Fair and Pride and Prejudice), and is about the ongoing war between the werewolves (lycans) and vampires. I know, they aren't 'furries', but most are werewolves, and they're furry most of the time, right? Besides, this took WAAAAAAAAAY too much work NOT to show it off every chance possible! ^_~ Not just the art itself, but also the historical correctness.
All costumes are 100% accurate for the time periods. Except, perhaps, Lycaon's. And Ylva's, obviously. But all the women (save Ylva, who's a slave) have their hair up, which had been bothering me before about my old signature -- in the early 1800's, going out of doors with your hair down, or at least unadorned, was the modern-day equivalent of going out without bothering to wear anything except for a bra and panties. Hair was worn loose only around the house, and only really during the evening, just like you don't walk around your house much in just your underwear, and therefore was associated with intimacy. All three women wearing 'period' style show the typical empire waist, and a lot of cleavage. Yes, back then, women (even respectable ones) showed as much boobage as they dared. Rowan's not wearing shoes, which is unusual, but being a slave and a lycan I figured she probably wouldn't often. Ginny and Nadya would be wearing the slipper-like shoes of the times, that resembled nothing more than ballerina slippers.
As for the men: Nikolas is the very height of fashion, right down to the gold buttons on his coat. All he needs now is sideburns and he'd be the heart-throb of every teenage girl. Rey and Lycaon are ... well, Rey and Lycaon. Clothes are something you put on, and matching is optional, as is style. Actually, Lycaon originally wasn't even going to have a robe, just a pair of pants; but, as a fellow roleplayer said, it shows off his 'human' side. Their hair is a little long for the height of fashion, Nikolas' is more ideal. But, hey, I can't see the boys caring about hairstyle any more than fashion. Reynard is even sporting a goatee -- not exactly period.
These are techically 'pixel dolls', which I don't usually upload to art sites, but I made all the bases from scratch myself, including most specifically for this graphic, so I'm not going to worry about that.
And now I've ranted. Feel free to comment and tell me what you think!
