Chow down with fresh crusted bread and some charming charismatic chowder from the kitchens of chrismukkah chrismukkah

Its been a while and I havent really been able to cook a whole lot...but have something quick at any rate!
Ingredients:
4 tp 6 slices uncured smoked BACON
1/2 to 1 link linguica, cooked (if you cant find, your favorite smoked snausage will work just as well, or even turkey snausage if you want to cut down the fat)
1 large onion, sliced
2 cloves garlic, finely chopped
1 to 2 heaping cups of cooked whole clams (make sure you save the broth from the cooking - if not, just use 1 whole bottle of clam broth instead)
Please note- you can also use razor clams, mussels, oysters, scallops, etc etc etc- though by that time you'd have a 'cioppino' instead of a chowdah :P)
1 can chopped clams
6 to 8 red bliss potatoes, chopped
3 cups water
1 whole (half a quart) light cream (if you are lactose intolerant, Im pretty sure soy milk would work just as well...or go with "Manhattan" style instead - just add in 1 can of crushed tomatoes, instead of the cream)
pinch of thyme
1/2 teaspoon anise seed
salt and pepper to taste
2 - 3 teaspoons flour
splash of hot sauce (optional)
So to make:
Prep by chopping the onions and garlic, and set aside. Same thing applies to the potatoes, sausage and BACON.
Get a large saucepot and sauté' the BACON and sausage first at a medium high on your stove. When they get nice and browned, throw in the chopped onions and garlic, plus the three teaspoons of flour.
Once the onions become translucent and the garlic is also good and cooked, slowly add in the three cups water. Now, since my clams were already cooked, you can save yourself a whole lot of agony - that is, if you get the raw clams from your supermarket, chances are they have a service where they can steam / pre-boil your clams for you.
Speaking for myself, this is where I added in the bottle of clam juice :3
That said...throw in the potatoes next, then the clams and a can of chopped clams if so desired. Then add the light cream, salt and pepper to taste (it wont need all that much, thanks to the BACON and clams), thyme and anise seed.
Let boil for 25 to 30 minutes, until it cooks down and gets nice and thick...
Then put into bowls with those yummy crackers on the side and serve :B
Tasting notes: Soooooooooo good, not kidding - and better the next day, when the smokiness of the...wait for it....BACON and sausage really kick in.
Enjoy!
