REA 'G' scale predecorated. My only G scale of anything. I bought it on a whim just because I love the mass of the model. It has some very slight weathering applied by myself, basically a light mist of Floquil Diesel Black sprayed on with an airbrush to kill the WAY too bright silver trucks. I'll be posting a few pics of this locomotive at a few angles, watch for em. :)

These are perhaps my favourite of the ALCo models, just as stylish as the EMD F units with a stronger, more muscular build. These engines had 244 ALCo prime movers, rated at 1500 HP, a diesel that had a sound all it's own. The FA-2 would have the same slightly uprated prime mover, adding 100 HP to the total.
Sadly, the Rock Island repowered all of their ALCo's with EMD 567's in the late 1950's, their experience with the 244 was less than great. The repowering was somewhat successful though and it kept the FrankenALCo's on the roster many years longer before they were scrapped.

Rock Island (CRI&P) had 16 units bought in 1948, none of which near as I can tell was ever numbered #2009. No Rock Island FA-1, FA-2 A/B's were preserved.
