Raya and the last dragon. I honestly hadn't heard much about this one other than it was coming out sometime soonish.
but after painted-bees brought the dragon's designs attention to me I wanted to take a swing at reworking it

Designing characters isn't easy, and there's so much going on behind the scenes for big budget titles like this that its maddening... but that's part of what irked me about the design they ended up going with.
South east Asia has some amazing myths. I'm so surprised they didn't take more inspiration when designing her.
I imagine that the one they decided to go with went through a lot of hands, and in the end its fine.
but I couldn't help myself drawing this dragon was an itch I needed to scratch
