Polish Goverment: Oh no! The Pandemic is accelerating, our health care is collapsing, economy is falling... What should we do?
Kaczynski: Let's make most cases of abortion unconstitutional.
Polish Goverment: that's Brilliant!
Satan: *Gasps*

A democratically elected government enacts law legally. Protests: It's a lack of democracy and fascism! There's a pandemic going on, the government has broken a lot of things and there's no one to blame. The situation with the virus is out of control. Feminists: Let's protest! Some protesters attack churches and monuments. Marta Lempart: It's a perfect idea!
well, so you used "democracy card" I'm asking you: where is referendum about this? Questionnaires are clear: only 11% of Poles want total ban on abortion. But no, extremely catolic government doesn't give a shit about opinions of its own citizens and makes extremely controversial decisions in the middle of pandemic instead of take care of falling economy.
I do not support the government. I want to say this because it is important. But first of all, you are talking about 11% of those who support a total ban on abortion. You are not talking about people who support a ban on abortion in case of fetal defects. Nor are you talking about people who support a ban on abortion in the case of Down's syndrome, Turner's syndrome and "light" defects. Then the number is higher. But ok. I understand that you are saying that most people do not support changing the law on abortion. This is true. This law was introduced not democratically? No.
First of all: the constitutional court in Poland has the possibility to interpret the constitution and say that one law is right and another is not. There are probably 15 judges in the constitutional court. Only 3 judges were elected during the Law and Justice party. 12 judges were elected during the previous government. The system works in such a way that if the Constitutional Court finds that a law is unconstitutional, a change of this law is required. No referendum is needed here. This is how the system works for us. There are many funny things in the constitution. Our law has many holes where there is a lack of precision. Whose fault is it? Former President Kwasniewski and SLD government. The government of the Democratic Left Alliance also gave a provision in the constitution: about protecting the right of a Pole from conception, not from birth. So you must have a grudge against the left, not against the Law and Justice.
The second thing is that referendums in Poland are pointless. Our social awareness is still small. All referendums end in failure because the attendance is too low. So introducing the law in Poland by referendum makes no sense. It is also a problem of our system.
The third issue is that before the 2015 elections the Law and Justice party announced a change in the abortion law in Poland. Most citizens voted for the government in 2015 and 2019. At the same time, the majority of citizens agreed that the government should meet the demands he spoke about. If you feel bad about this, then you have a grudge against democracy, not against the government.
Finally, if you feel that the government is extremely religious, you are wrong. Firstly, the government does not introduce religious law in Poland. The issue of abortion is not a religious law and also people who do not believe in it are against abortion. Secondly, PiS only uses the Church as something for propaganda. This is a very bad action and the church loses the most. I am a Catholic and I do not like politicians using the church in this way. They are not guided by ideals but by their interests. Thirdly, listen to Grzegorz Braun and you will learn what religious extremism is.
Finally, I also don't like the government's action and the introduction of this law during a pandemic, but the protesters are making a fool of themselves, because now the blame for the pandemic is laid on the protesters. Many things on protests are vulgar and terrible. The level of criticism has dropped below zero in several cases. I support the law that the government has introduced, but I do not like the introduction of this law now.

You are right in few paragraphs, but there's few understatements. Firstly, TK examines requests for checking the law in the chronological order - abortion law was examined out of sequence, we can only guessing, why.
Secondly, low level of education, outdated educational system, lack of economical and social knowledge - all of this make people not fully aware of how, for example, taxes work, from where government takes money etc, etc, so they are vulnerable to populism, empty promises and playing on emotions. This is why Law and Justice won elections.
We have concordat law in Poland, but yes, it was fault of first 'free' government. But somehow, to this day catholic Church does not have to pay taxes.
When the protests started, so many people united against an "enemy" and I really felt like something may change. That was the biggest protest from overthrow of communism. But week after week, Lempart and her entourage were destroying this indescribable union of many Poles with her ridiculous postulates and behaviours, but also by PiS with its power of dividing people. I will never forget being a part of this union and I will always keep eight stars in my heart.

In general, the request for this was made a year earlier. I don't know how the sequence in this matter works. But no matter if the application was held for too long or kept too short, the government made use of it especially at this point.
The question of paying taxes by priests is a strange thing, and I believe a priest should pay taxes. You shouldn't tax the church funds themselves because they come from donations or from the Vatican.
Tell me what's bad for you in the concordat. I believe that some elements of the concordat are good. A concordat is an agreement that aims to facilitate the relationship of church and state, but a concordat does not bring together state and church. This problem with these issues is the politicians' interests with the church, not the concordat.
The problem is that politics is not an easy matter to understand. Education should be better on this point. It is true. I am a political science student and I know this topic better. I am not a master at this. I am far from there. But I've been doing it for some time and I still don't understand many things. For me, populism is an inevitable thing in a democracy. Democracy is the rule of politicians who manipulate public opinion. Politicians love the principle of sharing and governing. But it hurts society. That's why I don't like democracy.
I'm glad you can see the things you say in the end. It speaks well for you. It means you can be objective.
