So I think I've figured out this extra joint in the hind legs thing that I've been on about in the past. Horses. It makes absolute perfect sense on classical horse centaurs, because of how horse metatarsals are constructed. Looking back at your older stuff and seeing a whole bunch of horses there, it finally made sense to me why that feature had come along for the ride into your newer canid drawings.
