Lucifer rebelled against god, for he wantedhis freewill, to be an individual and have no lord over him. He then alter tricked eve into eat the fruit of knowledge, and thus man fell to.
As i see it, he was prometheus, where prometheus gave fire to man,s cience, and was damned for it, lucifer gave man knowledge, science, something god cannot tolerate for as long as man is ignorante to the world, you can fill there ehads with all sorts of things. like the moon is just a sun at night, or the world is flat. And why whould god place a tree of knowledge thats forbidden in the garden the first place? he msut be up to something from the start.
I view Lucifer as manny satanists do, as a manifistation of the human nature. he´s not evil, he just want to be free, freedom with responisbilities, Where god, has order, absolute order, where his word is the law and all who oppose it is condemmned to hell. basicly a tyrant, dictator.
Thats why i like the greek gods, all knew that there gods was jerks and ass holes, you could pray that you whouldnt die in battle and they might save you, they could easily strike you down where you stood. same with the norse gods, Though there was more diverse.
Zoratismen is similar to the abramic religons but in there theres two gods, of equall power, born at the same time one god and one evil,

Lucifer rebelled because he got full of himself (too much pride) saying that he was bigger than God and only he deserved to rule. Obviously, being the Arch Angel of the sun, he let it go to his head and flattered himself saying that nothing can live without the son. Eventually he tried to make himself look bigger than God. A clay pot is not greater than the potter who made it, is it? I think you have your notions of who here is a dictator, mixed up. I suppose God's reason for putting that forbidden fruit in the Garden of Eden is debatable, but I think He put it there for the exact reason because we ARE given a free will. We were told of the consequences if we ate of that forbidden fruit ("knowledge of good and evil") and now we are suffering from it. We apparently weren't designed to know between good and evil and are obviously doing a terrible job of managing this new ability ("Behold they have become as one of us, knowing good and evil"). If God undid our decision then He would truly be a dictator. As you said yourself, there comes responsibility for our actions. So now you're gonna bitch to God for your own decisions? You play with fire, you're gonna get burned and you have no right to bitch to someone else or blame someone else for it.
If you think Lucifer is the light, then you're obviously falling for his scheme. Since plan A didn't work (taking over heaven) he's gone with plan B: if Lucifer can't rule over everything, then no one can and he'll take down as many as he can with him. If in the end any one of us find ourselves in a place of "wailing and gnashing of teeth" to no end, then it will be thanks to our own decisions. If you decline an invitation to a wedding, then don't bitch to the bride and groom for missing it if YOU'RE the one that decides not to go. Anyone of us can decide to go to heaven and the requirements to get there have been set before us. If you want to try as best as you can and meet those requirements, then it's your decision to take that road. If God like a father tells you not to play with fire or matches less you burn yourself, then don't blame Him if in fact you do achieve burning yourself. Like a father He is trying to make things better again and He can't tend to our wounds if we don't let Him. We have been given a free will and God would be defeating his own purpose if he strung along all of His creation like puppets.
I'll agree, it sucks that by one man's decision (Adam) many may have been condemned, but that's where Christ comes in. That by another man's decision many may be saved, but they have to decide for themselves. Each individual must decide for themselves. And guess what, not even God Himself can make that decision for you, less He nulls everything He's strove to make. You have to make that decision for yourself. If you decide to go the other road, saying that you weren't warned as to where it can end up, that excuse won't fly. So you make your own decision and suffer its consequences whether they turn out good or bad. You make your bed, you lay in it. You reap what you sow, etc, etc. Just don't leave all the requirements to the last minute.
You complain about ignorance, why don't you go read the Bible front to back yourself and see for yourself what it's all about. "Don't bash it until you've tried it?" *shrug*. So far mankind has managed to pervert everything we try to understand, science and faith alike. So, bottom line, we just don't seem to effectively be able to govern ourselves well and we've had how many millions of years to try. Or thousands according to which whoever believes. Do you really think we need more time to try and prove that we all can get along and govern ourselves? Also, monotheism makes more sense to me than something like Greek mythology. It's no wonder those gods fought among themselves so much. You can't have two rulers, ruling over the same thing, can you? Like having two presidents running the same country. Just wouldn't work. Civil war would break out.
And for anyone who thinks God doesn't make mistakes, they may be fooling themselves because the Bible does say that God regretted flooding the world if only for the animals' sake, because the animals were innocent of it. Why else is the regret there unless a mistake was made. The difference is, unlike Lucifer, God does learn. God IS trying to do better, learning, trying to do damage control without flat out interfering with free will. God may have taken all those lives, but don't forget, He IS GOD. He has the power to restore things again and which of us make right the things we've done wrong? If anyone of us wind up murdering another, who of us can bring them back to life? God can make things right again, but as with all good things, it takes time. Fruit takes time to ripen. No point in harvesting green fruit. Also God can't make things right in our lives if we dont' let Him. All we can do is hold on and try to stay faithful. God will restore to those who choose Him. Just don't forget to try and right your own mistakes as much as you can, along the way (and yes that applies to me as well. It applies to everyone). Also, don't hold any grudges 'cause with any grudges you hold against someone else, no doubt someone will have a grudge against you. By the simple fact we all have sinned and are pron to sin. I don't like the fact that we get tempted either, but maybe it's so that we'll make up our minds which road we wanna take.

LOLWHUT.
Where do atheists get their ideas? Does it involve ambiguously legal substances?
Lucifer doesn't actually exist in scripture. It's a weird translation hiccup that originally referred to a Babylonian king.
I find that number of people killed to be really idiotic: consider that those people killed were slavers (Egyptians), rabid rapists (Sodom and Gomorrah), or practiced child sacrifice (Canaanites). Ignoring that teensy bit of context is like gathering a list of people killed by guns and including the names of people killed in self defense.
Also, try to understand that the Bible was written in a dialect so old it's practically another language and there is a lot of historical and cultural context you're missing out on.
Might I also add that good does not equal nice.

Apologists. Endless amusement.
I understand the whole free will argument in Christianity but in the end it is really just a complicated way to rationalize a belief that is no longer relevant. The fuzzy thinking involved is so extreme that we would have to believe in a deity that is simultaneously all-powerful and good yet incapable or unwilling to help anyone. It is strange.
BTW, cool art. And God looks a little bit like the guy from Monopoly!

In my opinion things work like this: God created stuff, settled all the stuff prepared to work, and then when he finished preparing everything it was like that: "It's everything done, everything is ready, now you all can live by yourselfs... I'm not going to interrupt in anything else." That's my opinion... and damn, I hate talking about religion, I think that if you start talking about it you already got a fight... I guess we should respect the different beliefs of everyone and do not talk about something that we don't understand about... I mean, I don't start saying bullshit to a Jew or a satanist just because they have a different belief of mine...

Speaking as a former member of the Jehovah's Witnesses, and therefore someone who's actually read the entire bible (six times) I can say that this pic really does depict the old testament God of Israel very, very well. Jehovah was fury incarnate. All that stuff about God being love came way later.
I'm not religious these days though, so now I read (and even enjoy) the old testament. But I enjoy it in the same way that I enjoy Conan the Barbarian, or the epic of Gilgamesh- As a hyper aggressive, over the top piece of power fantasy removed almost entirely from the actual history of ancient Israel. And, yeah. God kind of is the bad guy a lot of the time. Problem is, he's too powerful for any of the characters to fight against.
Which is why I root for Lucifer.
And to anyone who doesn't believe that the God of the bible is evil, that we atheists and snarky agnostics are being too harsh on him...
Judges 19. Seriously, just read that chapter if you want to get angry. It's like a scene from Saw, only set in pre-dynastic Judea. And Jigsaw is the good guy. The guy in that story? A type of priest, loyal to God. He's doing things which Jehovah tacitly approves of. The story paints him as the good guy. His actions help rally the tribes against their foes. And let's not even start on the blatant (and pointlessly bizarre) homophobia.
PS: Samson was a douche.
