Gray is my favorite color
I felt so symbolic yesterday
If I knew Picasso
I would buy myself a gray guitar and play...
—“Mr. Jones” performed by Counting Crows, words & music by Adam Duritz & David Bryson
I’ve wanted to try an Ovation with a super shallow bowl for some time. I wasn’t sure if I’d like the sound, but I went ahead and bought this one on a whim. It sounds better than I imagined and that gray burst top looks terrific. I may sell it one day down the road, but for now it makes me very happy.

It's hard to describe in words, really. The material and the shape of the back do make a difference, especially when it comes to the volume of the instrument. My deep-bowl 12-string Ovation just booms. But I think the wood top makes most of the difference. That's the part that really vibrates with the strings. I've got one with a cedar top that sounds completely different from the ones I've heard made of spruce or other tonewoods. Some traditional "wood box" guitar players turn their noses up at Ovations, but I love the way they sound.
Awesome Guitar but I would play this song.
