Today's Artober prompt is 'Shadow' and is another from kayydotts.tumblr.com/. This one's a bit like 'Ebony' in that there is an existing Sonic character with the name Shadow, so it was fairly easy to decide who to draw. But hey, it's been a long time since I drew this guy.
Honestly, for the longest time, I didn't even like Shadow. He was the dark and gritty Sonic clone made to appeal to an aging fandom of angsty teenagers. It took a long time (and his portrayal in the later Archie Sonic comics) for me to actually warm up to him. He's still not my favourite Sonic character by a long shot, but I don't dislike him anymore.

I think the majority of the fandom didn't know what to make of Shadow. Those of us who enjoyed the old Archie books got to see a version of Shadow get some needed development and if you'll pardon the expression 'humanity' besides being an angsty rival/copy of Sonic. I never hated Shadow but I didn't care much for him, but like you, he grew on me. Still not a favorite but far from disliked. ^_^
