Yiu has a cadre of strange individuals amongst her crew. but by far the strangest of them all would be the ocean going Delacroix. Being a stranger to dry land, but ultimately curious of its inhabitants, Delacroix found solace in fellow ocean lovers such as the crewmen of merchant and fishing ships, unfortunately for him, they did not feel the same. Feared as an ocean dwelling demon, many fishing ships came to fear him so much that they would chase him off, and even hunt him down.
Eventually during one of these encounters he became wounded by a stray harpoon thrown by the superstitious fishermen and was promptly left to die. bleeding out and far from safety, ocean predators began to circle him hungerly. He began to lose hope, that is until the Greystar, Yiu's pirate ship, found him drifting on the bloodstained surface. They rescued him and nursed him back to health, after which he pledged a life debt to the captain of the vessel, Yiu Diagus, who, seeing no other course of action nor reason to decline, accepted.
Delacroix is a naive individual, with a dangerous curiosity streak. Being a member of the Nequira race, he has many fish like tendencies, including being drawn to shiny things and unfamiliar objects. He speaks with a heavy (and often confusing) jamaican accent, much to the dismay of his crew mates, and is often subject to confusion due to different cultural values. Despite this he often inhabits the crows nest, and serves as a reliable boatswain when need be, but his real value amoungst the crew is his aquatic nature and abilities. He can both breathe and see underwater, which alongside his unrivaled swimming speed (has clocked up to 40 miles an hour) has made him an ideal saboteur, being entrusted with attaching depth charges underneath the ships of the Greystars enemies. These aside he has many other interesting assets, such as the bulbous orbs on his forehead, which are an evolved form of the organ known as the ampulae of lorenzini. These allow him to detect electrical, thermal, and even chii signatures of anything in the water which, when coupled with the thick lateral lines that inhabit his ears (which can detect vibrations in water, essentially "hearing" via sensation), make it almost impossible to ambush him whilst in water.
He is by far one of my favorites so by all means tell me what you think of him if you like him ^^
