La heroína Trident es la última de una larga línea de defensores que han recibido el honor de ser los portadores del tridente de Neptuno, y con ello ser defensor de los mares y de aquellos que tiene la bendición del océano (Los animales oceánicos, como peces, mamíferos marinos y tortugas de mar). Cuando el antiguo guardián muere o se retira el tridente elige a un sucesor.
Marian Hammond era una oceanógrafa, que fue elegida como la nueva guardiana. Ella nos abe si esta lista para tal responsabilidad, más porque entre los oceánicos las nutrias son vistas como inferiores incluso por los otros mamíferos marinos.
¿Que peligros le aguardaran dentro y fuera de las oscuras y misteriosas aguas del océano?
