Jay woke up to the usually pitch black morning, he slowly stumbled out of his bed. Hey Jay, great news! He heard Silver's voice from where he assumed to be her bed. What is it? Jay asked hopefully. Am I gonna be able to see again? He thought hopefully to himself. You've recovered enough to be able to go back to you're mother's tent again! Silver said cheerfully, Jay let out a sigh of disappointment, he didn't feel like leaving yet. Silver? Will I ever be able to see again? Jay asked his ears high. Silver let out a sigh, Jay felt a paw on his shoulder. No you'll never be able to see again, no matter what I do.. I'm sorry. Silver said he could hear sadness grip her voice. But what will I be able to do to be useful! Jay said, feeling like his world was falling apart. I don't know, but when Dark pit gets better I'll discuss what we can do with you... Silver said her voice distant. Oh I have an idea! Silver said cheerfully, Jay could tell it was fake. How about you guys go look for berries, it's fall so their gonna be gone soon and I bet you're mother could make something with them! Silver said. Oh great, like that's helping anyone. Jay thought his ear flicked. Bring Apple with you! Silver said he could feel her tail guiding him out. Jay! His sister shouted happily. Silver wants us to go berry picking. Jay said still disappointed. Yay! We're allowed to go alone this time to right? Apple asked, Jay thought she would be bouncing with excitement. Yes, we don't have to bring mom.. Jay said sighing. Why is she so happy about berry picking? Jay thought flattening his ears, he could tell after a mintue they left camp, because he was tripping left and right. Ugh! Stupid tree roots! Jay scowled. Apple grabbed his hand he could tell they reached clearing. Black berries! Apple said guiding him to the bush. Here just feel for them. Apple said giving him a black berry. Maybe after an hour or so he heard whimpering similar to that of a dog. Is there a dog around here? Jay asked his ears pricked. I think so. Apple said pausing as if to listen. It sounds hurt, we should go help it! Apple said grabbing his hand and walking towards the sound, he crashed into Apple. Watch it! Jay snapped. Woah... It's huge! Apple said her voice filled with wonder. Can you tell me what it looks like? Jay said. Well it's really big, like bigger than a lion! And it's brown, and oh my god it's missing it's jaw! Apple said loudly, seemingly waking the dog up it began to snarl. Uhh we should go... Jay said backing up into a tree. Run! Apple shouted, he heard her running off. Wait! He shrieked as he ran tripping and stumbling over everything. Jay tripped over a large rock which cut his knee, sending him crashing into the ground. Get away from my brother! Apple shouted. You came back! Jay gasped as the dog pinned him, it's paws felt big. Ow! Jay unsheathed his claws and tried swiping at the dog. Aaah! Apple screamed as she was pinned with him. We're gonna die, we're gonna die! Jay cried. Get off them! Jay heard Tiger's voice behind them. The dog simply just snarled. Run! Get back to camp! Tiger ordered, Apple grabbed him as soon as the weight was lifted from his chest. The two reached camp panting. What's wrong! Jay heard Maple approaching them. A big dog attacked us, and Tiger is fighting it alone! Jay said wanting to cry, his knee ached and a scratch stung his cheek. Maple escorted them to Silver's tent to have their cuts looked at. I don't have time for this! Jay heard Silver mutter. End of chapter
