The first drawing I've done in weeks, and the first image of me in my were-swan form since... well, for years now. This came out nice, the only digital editing was some erasing to kill pencil-based smudge marks.
******Oh, if the image looks a little large, that is because it is much easier, cleaner, and prettier to take a large image and shrink it, than to have one that is too small and stretch it out;details are lost when stretching. If I get complaints I'll try to resize it, though again, different people have different monitors and screen resoltions, so I hope it suits you.******
Indeed, I am fully formed in this image, so it could be argued that its not a transformation image, but anyone who knows anything remote about me other than me being a furry should know that my "furries" are almost always transformed were-beasts, fine forms produced through at least 10 to 15 minutes of crunchy shifting and growth.
that's all the description I wish to do right now: I started last night and worked through the wee hours, so I'm a bit worn out. Time to sleep and dream....

*returns the hug warmly. wingwraps and all* thanks expy... I figured it was time to show my original (and still primary) form. Heck, I'm known as "Bird" by all my friends, to the point where only close blood relatives know my birth name ;) Its kind of a blessing I suppose.
*REALLY* nice to have the desire and interest to do something new . I assure you that any suffering anyone might have while waiting for me to make new work is incremental compared to my inability to make new work, be it sickness, poorness, or more likely just artist block.
....Its strange though... Its a struggle to start drawing, but once started, I get irritated about having to stop... Ah well, I guess I'm just stubborn and irritable
Thanks, by the way:)

i know this kind of problems VERY well. i have hudge problems to take a pencil and begin to draw when i'm allone.
i'ts way more fun with others arround. :)
I think i haven't drawed something for 3 years now.
i really adore this swany! :)
the essence of aquatic birds awesomeness!

Actually, the huge comment just below will explain various aspects of why I drew the picture like I did, the cause for the effeminate appearence there on the last large paragraph.
But indeed, this is a post transformation image, where the subject is still basking in the afterglow of the transformation and its many alien sensations, as well as pondering the nights possibilities in this new, refined form, so you are pretty spot on about the subtleties of the facial expression.
But yeah, thank you:D I'm glad you like it!

Thanks much on this Proxer. Yeah, it's usually a high priority for me to hybridize the hands and feet as much as the face or body on anthros, hybrids, weres, and so on. all the way down to the small hind toes on the feet: swans, ducks, and such have rear toes, but are atrophied compared to those found on perching birds and birds of prey. I even took measures to have those "dewclaws" rise or rest depending on the position of the rest of the leg and foot positions: if the creature stands high on the balls of its feet, the rear toes will rest flat against the heel. When the "Heel" of the foot is closer to the ground, the rear toes reflexively stretch out, so you don't step on them when or if the heel is planted on the ground. So you can essentially tell which foot a werebird is putting their weight on most by how the dewclaws are positioned, thus aiding in knowing their center of balance, which could help if you were, say, fighting one or something.
The dewclaws on the hands, aka, the thumbs, are much thicker and more pronounced due to human influence, and the sheer usefulness of opposable thumbs. Also, since the thumb is technically one with the rear toe on the swan foot, no webbing connects it to the other three fingers, or "front toes". Oh, and if you ever compare a bird's feet with its head, you see that the feet are actually quite large compared to the head: so naturally it makes sense that they would be someone large compared to the rest of the creatures anatomy, larger or smaller depending on the individual species of bird and the application of their feet as various tools. Ah, and claw/talons are more or less pronounced, larger, thicker, shorter, rounder, etc. based on the bird: obviously a swan will have smaller, less threatening claws than say, a werehawk.
Another detail I went and added was how the right arm held behind the back is sinking a bit into the feathers of the wings: this is because I feel that wings on anthro hybrids, be they birds or just winged wolves or something (Which I think is cheating) often feel "separate" from the actual creature in that they seldom blend into the creatures anatomy, or interact/interfere with their posing and/or movement unless the creature is to be in flight: for example, I imagine a strange, swiveling motion would be adapted by the wings, much like how we swing our arms left to right alternately when walking, to balance our stride as we walked, perhaps when running we might even spread our wings slightly to catch our weight with wind resistance, spreading or tucking the left or right wing with each fast stride, allowing us to lean into our running "ninja" style and ultimately let us run fast enough with our bodies tilted enough to take to the sky with some well timed powerful flaps, since we begin the jump with our bodies bent mostly horizontal, rather than lateral: It would take practice to learn the synchronicity needed to walk, run, dash, jump, then fly with these wonderful new appendages, but I don't believe it is impractical or even improbable to mix avian motion and flight with human motion and running: we simply must remember that our wings are there and account for alot of how we move, and that they are still there and effecting us even when not in "use".
That is why I take pride in asymmetrical wing posing and interaction;) It would have just as much of a powerful change on motion and posing as our hands, feet, or tail would have.
Quite a bit of info eh? *smiles* I mentioned these details, because while I try hard to make these aspects apparent, it might not be so obvious about certain details without witnessing the creature in full animation, or with magnifying-glass level detail on anatomy or pose. I've given alot of thought as to such details for my sheer love of avians, therians, and weres, and the possibility and nuances of actual existance for each. I don't think my artwork does the level of thought I use on the topic justice.
On that note, I think the thing that would make me more "Awesome" would be if I had the drive, know-how, motivation, or whatever necessary to be able to draw at this level of detail, but much faster, and much more often without losing energy or interest. This way I could put some of my animation ideas into reality, from how the transformations would look and move, to how hybrid beasts would move and act. I could also stand to become more interested in drawing backgrounds or coloring my work: I color pretty well when I bother to do so. I am always hoping and trying to improve, and so, I will do what I can to be awesome in your eyes... oh, by the way: What do you think would make my work more "awesome"?
*chuckles* oh, one last note. This is technically a self portrait of what I would like to be, even though I am male: I deliberately made the creature effeminate to the point of gender neutrality because of some key aspects: one, my own attitude about gender is fairly neutral, being bi and having no real ties to either gender on a psychological bend. Also, I sport a similar lithe appearance in real life which is only accented by the light-bodied nature of avians. Also, most folks can't tell the difference between male swans and female swans (The difference for mute swans being the size of the knob, that black bump on the base of their bill). That, and I've had many complaints about reptile and bird hybrids having breasts, a key attribute of mammals. While I don't myself care (anthos are part human, and humans are mammals, after all), I don't mind doing it this way. Not only that, but I imagine were-birds would have large, well developed chest regions, to allow for the manipulation of both arms and wings, not to mention the potential addition of a keelbone for support. Add all this together, and even a male swan morph can look chesty, even if they are fairly lithe elsewhere. Oh, the large, soft eyes are representative of both my human appearance and an inherent desire: I have fairly large, attractive eyes in real life, but still find such a quality attractive in others. Hope you don't find this info too creepy;)
Long winded, but I figured it would be good to share, since avians and werecreatures and such hold a strong place in my mind and heart. I might take some key points in this comment and use them in the image description, or in a were-avian themed journal entry., as a matter of fact.
So yeah, long story short, your comment and interest are appreciated ;)

I think you have become one of my new favorite persons on FA, just because you wrote an essay just now about the complexities of 6-limbed anthro-avain flight methods.
Oh, and "awesomeness" is a state of mind. Strive for awesome, and you will be awesome. To be more awesome in this arty case, perhaps just some more anatomical detail, like the separation between feathers and foot flesh. Perhaps also a bit more definition around the torso. Sure, it may be obsured bu puffy fluffy feathers, but there are still ways. What ways? I dunno', I'd have to be fooling around with it to invent it, probably.

*smiles* glad to know I made how fond I am of avians fairly clear. one day I'd love to actually get that series of movements animated, or at the very least someone else pull it off.
I wager I could indeed add more detail as time and trials are counted down. my main limit here was my medium for this was copier paper and a standard mechanical pencil: I literally added as much detail as I could before the details started getting blurry: I had to very crisply erase smudges and tiny straying lines to make the details in the face apparent, so I'm thinking that my main solution will be drawing digitally... I sure as heck don't know how some people get photographic detail with basic paper and pencil though... *whew*.
And I can definitely keep striving for awesomeness then, The seperation between foot flesh and feathers will totally be addressed during inking and coloring phases, since I do that digitally. The ability to get smooth, streamlined feathers, and yet still get their distinctive texture, is something thats drove artists nuts for eons. But I enjoy avians too much to stop obsessing over them so chances are I'll keep working on all those delightful subtle nuances that only the enamored tend to worry about, and find ways to add to my work as I go.
But I just got over obsessing over improving a lil' while ago, and backslid into just drawing as detailed as I can for the fun of it, so we'll see if I hit my limit or not ;)
Hope to keep thinking of stuff that catches your attention, and thanks again for the compliment of "becoming one of your favorite FA folks"

*nods* I do plan on drawing more of this wereswan, considering its one of three creatures that I feel the most strongly connected to. It took some time to iron out the looks, but I'm happy with where its headed, and am grateful that I can captivate others with my work, so thanks
*grin* hard for me without knowing alot about you, but if you like my work, feel free to, because its not going to change (too fast;) ) as time passes.
I have three primary personas, two of which are feathery, but my swan form is my primary form, and its been too long since I've payed attention to it, so yah, I'll be drawing more swan art. Definately.

What everyone else said. Also Love the new icon.
So are you still considering your fictional equivalent to be an Orca, or a swan? I guess you could have more than one "fursona" (I hate that word lol), but there's always still one you find more interesting and with more potential for an interesting story.

*grins* I hate the word fursona too. I just use, well, the standard monikers... avatar or persona work fairly fine. no need to sound hip here
Actually, I have three different personae which each seem to fit 3 different sides of my personality. I'm not even sure why I have three prime facets like that, and what each one precisely represents, but here's what they seem to reflect based on meditation on my feelings when focused on them.
My orca side seems to reflect libido. Not just sexual stamina, but an overall lust for life. I seem to go with that when I am going balls to the wall with anything I take serious, be it work or play. results don't matter if I did, and did all I could of it. I've been on high gear a bit long, since I first discovered my orca persona actually, but Its always lurked in the background: I just didn't have a tangible persona reflecting it until around that time.
My swan side is actually my most balanced side, and reflects a normal feel mixed with serenity, passion, innocence, and reality... so you could say its when I'm being most "realistic" *chuckles* I've been on high gear for years, trying to prove my worth to everyone and no one in general: after all, 18 through 25 is supposed to be your "Get it done" years: You are young enough to have vitality, old enough to be at least baseline mature in mind and body... not too old to get worn out, not too young to make stupid mistakes.
Since I busted my butt so hard on my artwork, you saw me use this form most often.
Last is my least used form, but a necessary one for a healthy soul (or so I believe, I'm no guru). That strange looking dragon, named Flammie? Something about it, and certain other very specific draconids, like lugia, for example, strike some sort of harmony with me. I would say it is my "Innocent" or "Pure" persona, which reflects when I am in a state of calm serenity that seems too feminine or too childlike... naive, gentle, cute, playful, those sorts of feelings. It is most rarely used because, quite frankly, the way I look, in the places I am, such qualities are often taken as signs of weakness, and while I care not for others hatred directly, I still try to avoid making more trouble than necessary, for them or myself. In fact, my innocent side is probably what tempers that sense of fairness. If I can channel my "Draconic" side, I can shunt aside any insult and flip it on its ass... the problem is losing the fear that keeps me from being able to call this aspect up at will. Oh, and from now on, its my "Flammie" aspect rather than my "dragon" aspect, because people mistake dragons with overwhelming power and aggression, and Flammie is an odd sort of dragon in that sense.
But trust me, I can switch between orca, swan, and Flammie, should the need call for it, and as long as I am not over stressed. So, when I need to study the "form" for when I draw each one, I can. Heck, I did my swan just now, and Flammie before that: My orca will probably be the next subject of my personae to draw, should I feel I've done my swan some momentary justice.
Thanks for whatcha like on this pic by the way, Xy

Heh... I'm reminded of a webcomic stating that "squirrels are the evil crack dealers of nature" (comic is called fanboys BTW... basic videogame based comic, plus RL wackiness for flavor).
Oh, and why do wolves have to be the only half-human transforming monsters out there? ;) Besides... swans are known to be scary provoked... I've heard more than one horror story of them drowning victims, and their wingbeats are strong enough to break bones if they nail you just the wrong way. swans are prettier when ticked off though. Seen all those paintings of them wing their necks arched in an S curve, wings half folded, all cute and fluffed up? yah, that's a ticked swan. I figure when you are large, white, and easy to see, with no claws or fangs to speak of, you have to rely on piss and vinegar to survive.
Heh, and thanks for the note. I figured I should respond to this comment though, before I space out and forget it completely ;)
