I'm still trying to figure out how best to prevent mine from bunching up by the wrist from movement. Tension at the seam never seems sufficient. Also, I'm really liking this weave. Do you by chance know where I can find a tutorial for it?

It works pretty well for me. Guess you just gotta keep playing with it.


I made up the weave myself. Never seen it, before I made it by fiddling around some. It's a variation of snakeskin, where you add larger rings around the smaller rings. The inner diameter of the bigger rings has to be slightly larger than the outer diameter of the smaller rings. You can test that out by taking a closed ring of each size you wanna try, and trying to lay the smaller one inside the bigger. If they both lie flat, with a tiny gap between them, then it's good to go.

I used 14 ga, 5/16" and 1/2" inner diameter rings.

Ah, thank ye kindly. I may have to try this out for a piece I've got planned. It's got a really nice look to it, that I think would really complement the piecemeal suit I'm putting together.

Have fun with it. Just know that if the maille isn't kept pretty tight and straight, the extra rings tend to move around a bit.
