Reginald Foxtale is a legend among the adventurers school Reynard attends literally casting a shadow over his son as a larger-than-life statue in the school's central building and figuratively as Rey is expected to live up to everything his father is said to have accomplished. Despite her importance to Reginald, Tarsia remains relatively unknown except for a team image with Reginald. Had she been more well known, Reynard would have recognized the woman that had raised him, a mare he thought of as a mother never knowing just how close to the truth he actually was. When he first sees the statue, Fulvan instanly recognizes it as his father, a fact that irks Reynard adding a bit more fuel to the bickering the brothers often engage in. On the surface, Reynard appears to resent his father for both his absence and his indirect influence the man's legend has on just about everything Rey does, but deep down, Rey wants to meet the man he knows as father and ask so very many questions that have troubled the young fox for most of his life.

They do have matching eye patches but have them for entirely different reasons. Reg "earned" his for being a jerk to the wrong guy, his son Reynard though neither man knew who the other was at the time of the altercation. Tarsia lost her eye and most of her horn while attempting to rescue someone.
Believe it or not, though they've been seperated most of their lives, they remain married and loyal to one another. In their case, perhaps absence really does make the heart grow fonder.
