"Leave me alone, Sonic. I don't have time for your shenanigans!" Tails exclaimed as he felt annoyed by the blue hedgehog. "Look, you've been showing us the cold shoulder for the whole week now. I just want to know what's going on, buddy." Sonic replied in a very calming yet concerned tone. He was right about that, the two-tailed boy had been very distant to everybody this week, even going so far as to lock himself into his workshop just to keep people away from himself. As a big brother would do, the speedy hero gave his best to cheer up the young fox.
But to no avail, Tails remained isolated from his friends. Not even his favorite activities like piloting aircrafts, racing Sonic with his tornado, or any other activities that he used to do frequently involving his spiky friend would spark his interest. "There is nothing going on! And I don't need your foolishness around me right now!" Tails practically shouted right into his adoptive brother's face as he shoved him by the chest. "Take it easy, Tails. I only want you to be well. No reason to get so defensive like that." Sonic maintained his cool, although he was a bit angered too at this point.
"I don't need a blue buffoon to care about my well-being, just get lost already!" Another outburst followed by the hot-headed fox. The blue speedster couldn't keep it together anymore, he had to get more confrontational. "Listen Tails, I'm still your big bro. You gotta show me some respect! I don't want this to heat up." He said with a hint of anger this time. "Bite me, dummy." Tails snarled back without a second thought. In moments like these Sonic had to be more of a parent than a brother to his sidekick. With both eyes closed, he took a deep breath as he prepared to speak the words of the highest authority. "Tails, you're grounded!"
A minute later and the childish fox sat down pouting in his grounding space. No, it wasn't in his room nor his workshop. Instead, Sonic went with his own disciplinary approach. Grounding the two-tailed youngster in his shoe was a far more suitable idea given the current circumstances. If he had grounded him within anywhere else, Tails would have further isolated himself, this however would keep him close to his big brother, surely being a healthier alternative. "I let you outta there in an hour. In the meantime, you should think very carefully about your behavior towards the people who love you, little buddy." The blue giant spoke down gently to his shrunken sidekick. Sonic didn't feel entirely happy about his authoritarian approach to the bug-sized boy, but it had to be done.
Running around with Tails grounded inside his shoe was also off the table, he didn't plan on teasing the tiny fox. Despite that, it would be quite a challenge to keep his feet still for an hour, this was the blue blur after all. Just as clever as he's mischief, he was struck with a playful yet innocent idea to entertain Tails within his shoe. "You know… you're not alone down there, tiny pebble." Came a teasing remark from the loveable giant hedgehog as he wiggled his gargantuan toes around. The two-tailed crumb couldn't suppress his smile, he just enjoyed getting teased like that by his blue idol. Perhaps this grounding time is exactly what both of them needed, they surely wouldn't stay mad at each other for too long.
