I haven't heard, but there was much I didn't like about the "Red Sky" seasons of the classic series, especially Lord Dregg taking the spotlight from Shredder just as he was finally splitting ways with Krang

As for Usagi, he actually didn't originate from TMNT, but actually his own Mirage comic book that Eastman & Laird didn't create, but had crossed over with TMNT in the Mirage comics enough to where they made him a figure and eventually a character in the original cartoon. I thought he was much better shown in the 2000s series, though, as they explained his homeworld a lot better.

Yeah, but he's Stan Sakai's character, not Mirage. Actually it's a canonized crossover.

That's because Usagi's 2nd volume was published by Mirage, which created the canonized alliance
