For a small time, Shadowclaw was stuck in a magic-less world where they couldn't leave by means of their Shadowstep ability. So they got stuck having to deal with mundane and normal things, as well as trying to find a way to escape the totally normal non-magic world. So they built their own company to do research and earn money to keep themselves alive! It was called GATES and was a private security company, with them as the Head Trainer, CEO, and Head Researcher.

Eventually, they created and destroyed all notes on a single-use teleportation device that would allow them to escape the world. They sometimes wonder how GATES is doing with their sudden leaving, but their outfit was still snazzy. Even if Beckan hated it.
