Dr. Raymond Niles studied for years to get his Ph.D in Psychology. Though he knew that he wanted to become a psychologist, he didn’t really have any specific goal in mind as to what he wanted to use his Ph.D for exactly.

The path hadn’t been the easiest, as in the midst of his years of schooling, he had fallen in love with a woman and had a child with her. However, his girlfriend had grown resentful of him spending much of his time on his career path, and eventually left him. To make things even more difficult, she left their young daughter with him due to not wanting to have to live as a single parent herself. As such, Raymond had to juggle both higher learning and doing his best to raise a daughter.

Despite all of this, he managed to succeed in his dream of gaining his Ph.D, and after a little while of attempting to establish himself, he had a strange run in with a brightly colored individual who shot him with a substance that he remembered hearing about in the news. Thanks to the constant accounts being reported in, he realized that he was being turned into a Pokemorph. He became a Hypno.

However, it was being turned into a Hypno that allowed him to figure out just how he wanted to use his psychology degree. He would become utilize his position to help other Pokemorphs suffering from general confusion and issues that left them confused and unsure about their new lives. He would use his skills to lend an ear towards those in need and help them come to terms with their changes.

The change did leave him a little self-conscious about his eyes, however, and he preferred to wear his glasses to hide them out of fear that others would improperly judge him or be put off by him.
