Paxton's eyes trembled as the alarm screeched beside him on his bedside counter, violently breaking his deep, comforting sleep as the world began to slip back into focus, instantly forgetting about what he was dreaming, but having felt giddy, yet slightly distraught and being rudely awoken from it, whatever it was, it must have been a nice dream.
With a pained moan, he slept his alarm, and rolled back into his bed, bumping into Aurelie.
"Good morning, cutie, hmhm~" she whispered, still waking up herself, rubbing her eyes and sitting up and she petted the dogs fluffy ears, him grumbling in return.
"Pax, you need to wake up, silly, you have work" Aurelie still speaking softly, knowing that feeling all too well.
"Grrrr but I don't wanna~" Paxton said playfully, squeezing his pillow as he kept slipping back and forth in a dreamy haze.
Aurelie huffed, but she knew just what to do, she poised her paws, fingers together and SNAP!
Paxton did the last button on his shirt, smiling in the mirror as he played with his hair and face fluff, he-... Wait, wasn't he just in bed? His smile turned to a confused look as he stared down, seeing himself fully dressed and ready for the day... He must have been really sleepy, shrugging it off with a shake of his head.
"Thank you for the coffee, sweetie!" Aurelie giggled, taking a sip as the dog went to walk out of the room, his tail wagging as he was already in a good mood and the praise made him feel even better... Even if he didn't remember making the tea at all...
"Heh- No problem!" Pax answered back, clicking a shiny, smart watch around his wrist and walking to the bedroom door, heading of to start his day.
"Have a great day!" Aurelie smiled, watching his boyfriend's tail sway and she couldn't help but smile more, happy she could help the dog escape the clutches of bed, even if she hadn't yet...
...It had been a really rough morning, Paxton escaped the meeting room with a sigh of relief knowing it was lunch time, he had endured a serious grilling after missing an important email about his project, which had set the team back a week.
His tail between his legs and head held low, he sighed, pulling out his phone and texting Aurelie, she could always lift his spirits no matter what.
"Hey."
Even though Aurelie seemed to see the text immediately, there was a slight pause before she responded, she know such a simple greeting was bad news...
"Hey there, handsome! Is something wrong? You seem a little upset..."
Paxton's thumbs tapped the screen rapidly, his paw beans giving off cute, little taping noises as he did so.
"Just having a ruff day :'( :'("
"Awww sweetheart, do you need cheering up? Do you have some time?"
Paxton hesitated for a second, he really could do with some time out, but he was nervous about suddenly dissapearing during his break after causing so much inconvenience, he decided he should stay there and just chat while working on some emails.
"Chatting with you always picks me up <3"
"Hehe, you are such a cutie! Why don't you be a good boy at meet me at the café down the road"
Paxton handed the orange and blue Hoopoe the cash as his tail wagged, picking up the frothy, pumpkin-spiced, creamy coffees as they warmed his paws, his tail wagging as he branded a big, happy, (hypnotised) smile to the bird.
"Keep the change" he said in a delighted, if ever so slightly robotic tone, the bird was delighted as his feathers stood up, squawking back his thanks.
The pup placed the paper cups on the table outside, leaves blowing past and cars in the distance driving past as he sat down, Auriele placing her paw over his, and he suddenly came back to reality, shocked he seemed to suddenly appear at the cafe down the road.
"Thanks for buying the coffees today, cutie, that was so sweet of you too!" Aurelie giggled again, smiling and tilting her head to the side as she took a sip, a dab of cream on her nose as she wiped it off with an adorable "Oop!".
"Y-yeah... Thank you~" Pax mumbled, confused but... Feeling so happy in this moment, like all his cares had disappeared, he couldn't even think of what he was doing before, or even how he got there.
"I wanted to cheer you up, and I think my little suggestion worked!" Aurelie teased, her tail wagging so fast as she seemed so proud of her self, her high mood was infectious.
The two talked and caught up, swirling and sipping their fancy coffees as the hour quickly past, both going their separate ways after a hug and a farewell till later tonight...
...Thankfully the rest of the day seemed more relaxed and slow, Paxton tackling his tasks and getting back on track with ease, even others complemented how he seemed to be taking this morning's grill in his stride.
He even had time to look up some funny pictures during a water cooler break, those dumb, sentient loaves of bread known as corgis always cracked him up.
Suddenly, a text fired through from Aurelie.
"Got something special for you tonight, have a professional chef cooking for us ;)"
He was bewildered, Aurelie has been acting awfully unusual today, and he had so many weird blank spots in his memory, it was making him a little anxious... Back to the corgi pics!...
...The dog stubbled though the door with a sigh of relief, dropping his bag at his door before noticing a dim, glowing light from the kitchen, a red, deliciously scented candle, with some petals surrounding it and a note.
The dogs ears drooped back in surprise and nervousness, as he turned on the light and noticed a set of ingredients set out on another counter, an open cookbook beside them
He carefully blew out the candle and opened the note...
"Good boy."
He looked up with the note confused, before realising he was sitting at the table, facing his girlfriend, a happy, beaming expression on her face as her tail wagged uncontrollably behind her though the chair.
He smelt the delicious meal before him, a perfectly made lasagna, elegantly presented and seasoned with basil, pepper and parmesan.
He was feeling so many emotions, he was so confused, Aurelie could see some upset was brewing within him.
"Sweetie, look at me, I have something to show you" she said softly, before showcasing a dummies guide to hypnosis, giggling to herself.
"hehe, I think I am getting a lot better at this! I didn't realise how fun triggers could be~!"
Paxton's confusion melted into warmth, his tail wagging as his head tilted with a sigh of relief and delight, staring at his kitten with love and admiration in his eyes, so full of pride, as the two giggled in harmony and dived into the romantic meal together, his silly little training sessions with Aurelie paying off, as the student was becoming the master...
