y/w! I wonder how much having a muzzle would affect what a person would see in a scene like this? And I suspect an anthro would need some heavy-duty ear protection, as well as the nuisance of fur getting into the moving parts ;)

I don't think a muzzle would be too much of an inconvenience, but they may need buttstocks of special shape for aiming comfortably. Ear protection would indeed be a bummer because you can't really have tactical headphones that cover the entire ear, and big ears would pose a difficulty for helmets. As for fur, I think a pair of tactical gloves would be enough to stop fur from getting snagged in the bolt.
