Created as a race of terror weapons to be used on the Galaxy, The Dread are an empire of torturers, pirates, and slavers. They are cruel and monstrous to the “Lesser Races'' that travel the stars. They are often described as “High functioning Psychopaths”. They see themselves as the Apex Predator of the Galaxy and that all other races are their prey. They function under noble house-like Kabals, which they are absolutely loyal to from birth. These Kabals compete for resources, treasures, and glory. Each Kabal has its own culture and traditions, and each Kabal lives on the Black Ark colony ship that works as their make-shift home world. Their brains and sensory organs are very well developed, allowing them greater intelligence and the ability to see in ultraviolet light. They have also discovered the means of bio-alchemy, allowing them to edit the DNA of themselves and other races to better fit their needs. Most incredible of their abilities is their telepathic communication between each other. This is possible due to an extra lobe under the frontal one in their brain that works like a wireless transmitter and receiver. This also causes them to "sense" the thoughts of other creatures, but most Dread are unable to actually decode their thoughts.
