Original mock-up copy of Caterwaul #1, circa 1996
Title pretty much says it all. This was scanned from the original mock-up copy I made prior to actual printing up the first run of the comic. There were two runs per issue for a total of 300 copies per issue.
The original cover didn't have the final logo box to the left of the title, nor was the price correct on this copy. At that time, it cost me about four dollars to print up each issue, so I ended up bumping the price up to seven bucks.
From the twelve o'clock position, and going clockwise: Veronika Eva Vonderschmidt, Tamara Jolsen, Dinah Auger, Leila Martins, Crystal Vaughn, Marie Queneau, Tiffany Brookes.

Yeah, but they don't do much for blocking bullets! I'm avoiding the typical comic habit of chicks going into battle with little more than bathing suits on, while the guys are armored to the hilt. I hate that shit, and don't really know why I drew them like that in the early issues (though their outfits were changed in number 4).
The CDs will be getting shipped out either Friday or Tuesday (I just remembered Monday is a holiday). I still have a few labels to put on the newly-burned CDs (don't ask, it was an expensive mistake on my part). Been slammed with work for the past couple weeks, so the CDs had to sit on the back burner until I could get my work caught up.

Personally , I don't see anything wrong with the way they are dressed. It makes sense, if you think about it, from their point of view. We humans only wear so much clothing because we have no fur to protect us from the cold and sun, but if their were beings like this in the real world, their sense of modesty would be vastly different from ours. After all, they have thick fur all over their bodies, so what good would thick human-style clothes do them, except feeling itchy, heavy, and probably overheating. (they don't sweat) So these outfits would work for them. Also, a bullet is a bullet, regardless what your wearing. The added flexibility would help too.
And don't forget the advantage of distracting sexually deprived henchmen...

Well, the new outfits offer protection from knives and claws (to a degree), as well as protection from most small arms ammunition and some rifle/shotgun ammo. After the second story, the crew will have to get their uniforms remade with something like Nomax, to prevent damage from fire and extreme heat. The suits themselves utilize a special cooling system which is linked to a module which constantly checks body temperature. This way, if they're active, it cranks out the cool. If it's cold out, the suit allows their natural body heat to keep them warm, but will not allow it to rise above whatever is comfortable for the wearer.
Well your comic, your rules, but if you have the opportunity, you should make it sexy and fun! You can't control what people wear in real life, but in fantasy, you can do whatever you want to anyone! So why not take advantage? Their is no shame in making happen what you want happen, happen.
Hey I got the whole set of these X2
along with the X-Rated Lesbian scene between Veronica & Diana that you only offered to those who bought all of them at once. >;)
I wounder how much I would get for them now a days.
Time travel be damned I got them right now.
OK Boys start your bidding for the original (low Tec art versions) copies of Caterwaul 1,2,3,4, I'll get Jim to post them on Furbid for me. >;)

Oof... I do like a little levity here or there in the stories I read (because I have a feeling if I ever do manage to get any story rolling for any length of time it will probably end up angst riddled at some point), but what the heck, I am definitely a fan of the stuff you've done in the past so when I can I'll be buying your new stuff.
The new style has realistic levity in it, not the ridiculous or cartoonish humor of the earlier comics. It's supposed to be realistic, so things such as character interactions are going to be more attuned to anthropomorphic characters, rather than the typical "human-with-an-animal-head" behavior portrayed in most "furry" comics. (Besides, despite the comic featuring anthropomorphic characters, I'm not aiming it specifically at the "furry" genre; I'm branching more towards the science-fiction crowd too.
I'm not sure how 'furry' is even a genre, it's more a style indicator if anything (to me anyway).
So someone telling me that a comic is 'furry' tells me nothing except that the characters will likely be anthropomorphic animals, so while I may check it out to see how it's drawn and what the heck its about... I kind of want to know ahead of time if it's horror, sci fi, fantasy, comedy, slice of life, teen-adult rated, family friendly, etc...
That said I have no idea how to classify a webcomic I've been considering for the past few months other than 'furry' at this point (despite the inclusion of humans ¬.¬). In theory it could be comedy but it'll probably get serious for stretches because I'm damned slow so even relatively short arcs will likely last for months. I'd like to focus more on (bad attempts at) humour (a sense I am told I'm either lacking or possess a strange one). To compensate I will probably try to get some tits in there as well. I'm so damned classy.
Still... do have another (much less furry) project in mind but I don't think I'm quite ready to tackle it yet, so this new webcomic'll be me practising... I mean, I learned a lot of thing doing Cats n' Cameras, mostly in finding out what I couldn't do, which was a good thing, and drawing things and angles I normally wouldn't with pinups, so I look forward to doing another webcomic and making tons of mistakes. Though I want to try and change the format away from 4 panels I was doing.
...sadly (or hilariously, I'm really not sure) it seems the first look at one of the characters for the new webcomic the internet is going to get will be the (if I don't change my mind) leading male in a hotdog costume.
Classy.
My waffling aside; Yay, levity! It'll also be interesting to see the more animal end of anthropomorphism in action.

I suppose so, but the new uniforms offer a hell of a lot more protection! And they also carry more tactical stuff as well.
I dunno about you man, but if I had a choice between going into a gunfight in a speedo or a full suit of tactical armor, guess which one I'd pick?

The comic is a blend of sci-fi, crime noir and action. I suppose that any comic which would have 2-legged walking animal people with advanced technology and colonies on the moon and Mars would have to be labeled as science fiction, even if all the stories do not focus on those aspects.
Well, believe it or not, I've never been what one could consider a "fan" of "Furry", although I do enjoy the use of anthropomorphism in art, especially science fiction. I know some folks seem surprised when I say I am not familiar with the work of other artists, or the names of popular cartoon/video game characters. But as I tell them, I just draw this stuff. I'm not really interested in any other aspect of it, especially the perverted "lifestyle" bullshit the fandom has morphed into over the past 10 years.
