Born on Whidbey Island, Washington, Silvia Anastasia de la Rosa Makalangkit Marquez spent her childhood in the evergreen forests of the Pacific Northwest, and therein is where she encountered a tangent between our Earth and the world of dragons. There she befriended Euphie, and theirs was an idyllic summer until one day, Sylph didn't return.

Only many, many years later, now a grown woman working in a vet clinic on the island, did she miss her bus going home. She decided to walk through the forests instead... was found by otherworldly monsters, pursued, and fled unknowing into that other world she'd visited as a child. The monsters were not quite able to catch her, but they left their mark, and when Sylph next came to consciousness, she found herself in the body of a dragon with extra legs and a bulbous abdomen behind her...
