Vex is a kobold of clan Moontummy, descended from the great black dragon, Silas. The clan lives under the Gloomy Spires in a colony of around 500 kobolds.
Clan Moontummy is moderately wealthy and holds an impressive hoard of all the shinies they have found in the roots of the mountains. While most miners are assigned to the much tamer Shallow and Deep branches, Vex, being a much more seasoned miner was assigned to the Underdark branch. She and her mining party were in charge of pulling up the rare metals and valuable resources from the deepest parts of the world, such as cave pearls or spiderstone.

In the main shaft, Vex was on break when the other miners suddenly dug into a void. All of the kobolds gathered around to peer inside and they were greeted with a glossy black cavern with a faint violet glow in the back. The walls sparkled like stars and the floor was covered in bubbling pits of tar and oil.

Further exploration revealed the source of the violet glow. A huge pillar made of black iron and dark, oily bricks. On top sat a pulsing violet flame inside an iron brazier, making a churning, dissonant, droning roar. Vex was in the main shaft when IT happened...
