Was listening to Jess Harnell's ( Hunter's voice actor ) cover of the song "Jessie's Girl", so I sketched this up while listening to it. So I guess in this case, it's more like, "I wish I *WAS* Jessie's girl", amiright?
Couple of things now I would probably fix in the image, but for another "test subject" for my great battle against Photoshop, I had already spent far too long on it. I've also realized how hard it is to shadow a character that is pure white. I didn't want to just do grey as usual, so I did a layer of pinkish-violet and then a second layer of a pinkish-beige. Then grunged out the background in like, a minute. Hack, I know.
Also, debated whether or not to mark this "mature". But there are no "bits" showing and they're clothed ( albeit scantly ).
Alethia, the Japanese Spitz dog and Rover from Tokyo, is mine.
Hunter and that Road Rovers stuff is all the property of Warner Brothers.

Is there really much of a need to nitpick that?
Japanese Spitz dogs have very pronounced 'indented brows' due to lengths of hair that grow out over their eyes. Besides, when I designed her 14 years ago, she was a RR fan character, and I was trying to keep the style canon to the series. What do you care?

Obviously you haven't seen any Japanese Spitz dogs with this common trait, or any Japanese Spitz dogs for that matter at all. The hair on their muzzle and around their eyes is extremely short, but poofs out usually in a v-pattern either right between the eyes or right above at the brow. I simplified it coz otherwise, drawing it makes her look like a wookie.
I don't see why I need to prove my point to you, but I'll upload photos to my gallery as soon as I get off work. It's furry fandom. Dogs and cats and taurs and foxes and what-have-you don't walk upright wearing clothes either smoking weed and screwing one another. So in the grand scheme of things, trolling people's galleries with one-liner nitpicks and emoticon faces is pretty moot. I draw what I like as I like it, as does everyone else here. Why are some people's dogs blue? Or purple? Or rainbow? What does it matter?

Lemme guess, you're bawwing to your friends now about how you offered what could hardly be called "constructive criticism" in hopes of bringing a little army here to stir up more shit? I don't need any more furry drama bull shit, thank you very much. I went for a BA in animation, I have had real critiques and constructive criticism. There is a huge difference between that and people just stopping by this page now to troll.
I hardly call what Noma had to say constructive criticism when she apparently knew nothing about the breed of dog Alethia is. It's not like she went into her argument knowing anything about the character or why she might have that feature to begin with. This all could have been handled better if Noma would have asked in a non-abrasive manner why Alethia had the marking to begin with.
When you look at pictures of japanese spitz dogs, you'll see that they almost have a seam between the short hair on their faces and the longer hair on the rest of the head. It's more pronounced than most other fluffy breeds, so she incorporated it into her character while streamlining it so that Alethia meshed well with the Road Rovers canon.
As for constructive criticism...I see nothing valid mentioned about technique, referencing, or the principles of art or design. I see nothing that Artaith could use to better her art. How can what Noma said be considered constructive?

I know this is the internet, and folks often overlook the fact that there are nicer ways of getting the answers they seek, but if you really wanted to know why Alethia has that delineation on her face, why didn't you just say something like 'hey, cute character, but do you mind if I ask why there's a blaze on her face when she's white? was just curious.' The way you phrased it is very abrasive and makes it seem more like you just want to start shit than get an answer.
BTW, picture http://www.puppiesforsale.com.au/im.....aneseSpitz.jpg . You can clearly see where the face is covered with much shorter fur than the rest of the dog. Artaith just used that as a defining characteristic of the character.

Okay, I could be wrong here, given I only have the one working eye and all and it isn't always reliable but bear with me here. Is she blushing in this shot? I have trouble with colors sometimes, but looking at it in the enlarged state when you click on it here in FA and all? I'd swear she looks like she's blushing. Either way, cool piece of work.
there's a song, but it's called bobbys girl, not hunters XP http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Cfz33QIsdY
