Indoor playtime was over, and now it was time for outside play. Sigh...Zee-Zee still hadn't managed to convince anyone to try out the potty. He had decided it wasn't going to happen, and was going to try again some other day.
He was looking at the top of the hill for his best friends Mika and Donny. Maybe they would want to play hide-and-seek with him!
When he got closer and closer to the big green tree, he thought he could hear someone crying!
"Oh dear...Oh no...." someone mewed, sadly.
"Hm? Who's that? Why are you crying?"
"No one's crying an' no one's here! Go away!" said the voice.
Zee-Zee peered over the tree and saw a little gray kitten. "Billie? Are you okay?"
"NO! AND I'M NOT BILLIE, I'M LILLIE!!!" she shouted angrily!
Zee-Zee jumped back! "Okay, okay, sorry! You don't hafta yell..."
The little kitten started crying again.
"Lillie? Are you ok? Are you lost?" Zee-Zee asked. "I know the way back if..."Then he noticed she had wet her pull-up!
"Aww, don't cry Lillie! It's only a wet pull-up! Everyone has those!" the little squirrel said.
Not like me! I'm never gonna make it to the potty in time..." She had been wet or messy 3 or 4 times a day for weeks!
"Yes you will!" Zee-Zee encouraged her.
"No I won't! And Mommy says if I don't make it to the potty, she's gonna have to put me back in diapers! I don't wanna go back to diapers!" She was so sad that she started crying again!
Zee-Zee took Lillie's paw, and gave it a friendly squeeze.
"But Lillie, I have accidents all the time! And my Mommy's never put me back in diapers!" Zee-Zee said. Well, he did have to wear a diaper at night sometimes, but Lillie didn't need to know that.
"You do?" Lillie stopped crying. She thought she was the only cub to have accidents!
"Uh-huh, Mommy says everyone has accidents when they're learning about the potty, and that's okay! I went pee-pee in my pull-ups this morning; my sister tried to use the potty before me. But I still have my pull-ups! You will too, I know it!" said Zee-Zee.
Lillie still didn't seem all that reassured. Zee-Zee felt sorry for her. Then, he got a great idea!
"Hey I know! If you come tell me when you need to go potty, I'll show you how!" he said.
"How do you know when you need to go? For me, it just comes out when I don't want it to," Lillie mumbled.
"Just let me know when you feel something wiggly or something heavy under your tummy. Then you'll know what to do!" said Zee-Zee.
Just then, they heard Mrs. Valerie call out in the distance.
"Kids! It's time to come back inside for lunch! Come and get it!" she called.
"C'mon! We gotta go back inside. You don't wanna stay in a wet pull-up all day, huh?" Zee-Zee said, cheerfully. He had finally found someone to teach!
He took Lillie's paw, and together they started running.
Lillie wiped her eyes. Could this squirrel really teach her? Would he really be that nice?
