My Fellow Furries,
Lately, there have been so many people who have wondered if the Furry Fandom is going to end because of many (if not all) Cons being canceled or moving strictly to VR. Ladies and Gentlefurs, I would like to say that this is unlikely. I know this past year has been one of the roughest years we have had to endure, primarily due to COVID-19. Many of you have lost your homes, your jobs, and I am sorry to say but I know a few of our fellow furs who have crossed the rainbow bridge from this disease. This has been trying and it has been hard. Let me make it clear, Cons or no Cons, this will NOT be the end of us. Once upon a time furries were confined to a single hotel room filled with a paw full of people. We began this fandom by secret magazines, independent artists, and dreams of grandeur. We have come so far as a community, as a family. We are stronger than we realize.
These times are tough, I grant you. This is going to be an uphill battle for us all, and I urge you to give where you can and to support your artists if you can. I urge you to support each other even if it is only with kind words and support and love. Sometimes, that is all we can do, and sometimes that is what is needed. When we come together, as a community, we can achieve great things! Hell, we already have! We have websites, artists, musicians, lawyers, health care workers (thank you for your service and PLEASE stay safe during these times.) We are in America, Europe, Asia, and so many more countries! We come from all walks of life, all different colors and species.
In relation to Cons, the first furry cons started in a hotel room. If that is what is necessary to begin again, then we will begin again! This is FAR from the end for us. We will survive, we will prevail, and we will become stronger for it! As long as there is a little boy who secretly howls at the moon, a little girl who dreams of purring and napping in the sun. As long as there are people whose heart beats with the call of animals, we will survive! Furries have been a safe haven for the disenfranchised, the meek, the people society fails to recognize because we don't always fit the social norms. Being a furry has given hope and peace and joy to so many.
TO ALL FURRIES READING THIS: I URGE YOU! LEARN FROM OUR HUMBLE BEGINNINGS! THEY ARE THE KEY TO HOPE FOR OUR FUTURE! WE WILL NOT STOP FIGHTING, AND WE WILL NOT STOP BEING FURRIES! WE ARE STRONG AND PROUD! WE CAN DO AMAZING THINGS NO MATTER WHAT HAPPENS! You are all so beautiful and I am proud to be a furry because of you all. Being a furry saved my life, and it has saved more than one heart that I know.

This maybe the scariest and weirdest year of our times, thats not gonna stop us or slow us down of striving forward. Sure the world is becoming a total slop fuck fest shit show but there are furries out there still striving forward.

LD5, and FurAffinity were my introduction to this fandom.) These lockdowns pushing the fandom back to self-publications an dreams eem to have the fandom go full circle. That... throwback 'secret club' feeling is actually exciting, given how you pu the current situation that way.
The furry pride thing is a bit overblown, but, all the same, we are just fans of cartoon animals. Live conventions or not, our appreciation of cartoon animals remains. If anything, this lockdown would be an opportunity; a lot of us have plenty of time where we can make our own cartoons or simply partake in those cartoons we liked so long ago. These cartoons can ev encourage thos 'essential workers' w honestly need some form of relief after doing their increase duties.

To me and many others, it is not overblown. Some people might be fans of cartoon animals, like you. Others, it is deeper. There are many views on what furry means to an individual and there are no wrong answers. Furry give some people a hobby while to others it gives them hope and a goal to aspire to. Id recommend watching “The Fandom” documentary on YouTube.
