Just a brief checkup on sarah this week, the next "To See The Spine" comic will come up next but wanted to draw this comic.
A few notes on this comic
1) The first winter is a very bleak time for many drekir, specifically in North America as winter comes far earlier in North America than south america and is generally far harsher. For a lot of the cold blooded drekir they had never had the time, knowledge, nor resources to properly prepare for winter. On top of that cold blooded breeds of drekir (IE, most breeds of drekir) suffer horribly in the cold which slows down their physical, mental and cognitive abilities down as their metabolic rate slows in the cold. Pretty dark stuff!
So there are a lot of drekir who sadly don't make it past the 1st winter. Kinda hard to dodge that tragic situation in North America
2) one of the more existential aspects of being a drek in such a primitive world might be forgetting what you or your friends looked like before the pulse. By this point it's been 2 long months of just scraping by, struggling to survive, etc. etc. When combined with the lack of anything tangible to remind oneself of what a human looked like I could see the image of what you looked like becoming blurrier and blurrier and your identity as a human might slowly slip away. Combined with all that and the stress of the past 2 months I wouldn't blame Sarah for going on a nightlong art project, its very cathartic I bet.
Kind of a darker comic but regardless!
