nice image. love the expression. and the color work isn't bad--it's stylistic. learn to love the hard sell. it's what artists do most after all the real work is done. LoL

almost every artist I have ever talked to starts out feeling that way. You have a nice grasp of anatomy and color, so learn to give yourself a break. remember that the only one who knows what you see in your head is you, so no one else can see how or where it falls short. all we see is what is actually there, so if we like it, chances are it is actually pretty good. (doesn't mean you stop striving to get closer to that vision in your head, tho' )

heya. I really liked this, so I got inspired a bit. Dunno if you have access to PhotoShop, but I thought I'd post quick progression of how I would touch-up of your work. If you like it, I can send you the finished version and the working file, if you'd like to see what I did and how I did it. I used the marker texture to give a LOT of definition. And you'd be surprised how my just duplicating the layer and setting it to Overlay really makes it pop.
