War of 1812: 1812 – 1815
World War I: 1914 – 1918
World War II: 1939 – 1945
Korean War: 1950 – 1953
War on Terror: 2001 – present

I think it simply means it's still ongoing. As far as I know, the War on Terror has yet to end.

I think for me and my fellow Americans, the War in Afghanistan went down about the same way as when we were in Vietnam. Even the airport evacuation seemed like a mirror copy of the Fall of Saigon back in '75.
