Another comission from Eric Schnieder, and once again the title was his request as well. The names were also specifed by him, and they seemed very 'formal' to me so I tried writing this in a sort of "Pride and Prejudice" style but I don't think it came off very well. The exact specifications were as follows (anatomical language warning):
"Mr. Robert Dobbins has been carrying on an affair with Mrs. Hawkinsfor some time and he's managed an invitation to Mr. and Mrs.Hawkins' annual hunt ball, held at the Hawkins' country home. During the party, Mr. Hawkins does a few magic tricks and asks for a volunteer fromthe audience for a little hypnosis demonstration. Dobbins is picked and Mr. Hawkins places him under hypnosis. Everything seems 'normal' to Dobbins when Mr. Hawkins tells him that he's really a horse, a fine Irish Field Hunter. After all, he'll explainto Dobbins, he'snot wearing clothes, he's instead wearing a horse collar and harness, andDobbins will perceive that it's true. The audience will laugh, but Dobbinscan't tell if it's because they also see him dressed in just the harnessor because they see his blushing, embarassed reaction. Hawkins will go on like that, changing hands and feet to hooves, adding atail, giving him a horse's broad chest and belly, etc. He'd even point himout as a stallion to the audience, letting him grow a horse's penis, sheath andballs, only to smile evilly and comment, "No, perhaps he's a gelding." shrinkingthe balls away. Clearly he knows about Dobbins' indescretions. And he's nomere hypnotist. Before the party's over, Hawkins has him completely transformed and onall fours. He's a horse and everyone at the party seems to think he's just that (the guestsride him bareback in the ballroom, perhaps?) and in the evening, he's lead outto the stables and placed in a stall for the night. (Hmm...I thinkthe wife mightknow he's a man as well. This might even have been _her_ idea...) In the morning, he wakes in the stall, disoriented and not immediatelyrememberingthe events of the night before, or why he suddenly has hooves. :> It comes backquickly though, and is brought home when Mr. Hawkins' groom arrives to groomand saddle him up gpt Hawkins to take out for the day's hunting. He's Mr. Hawkins' to ride from now on. -- How's that sound for a framework? I figure Dobbins is a fairlylikable character,if something of a rake. Might make sense to cast him as an Irishman to start,as it'll make the equine transition more...appropriate."
