'The demon swirled around him, a look of worry etched into her face.

"You're not alone with this, you know that... right...?" she asked, her voice quiet. He nodded, though avoiding her gaze with his tired eyes downcast.

"I know... Just... Let me think. Please."

"That's not a good idea right now."

"How else would you expect someone to react with all that?"

The demon paused, only to simply hold onto his arm and curl against his back.

"Humans don't normally 'think' about that to cope..." she replied quietly. He shrugged.

"I do."'

Small break from the reference sheet I'm working on because my favorite band came out with a new song last night... 👀

Anyway, this was kinda depressing.

Legitimate TW here though, fair warning

They share a bit more of a similar past than either would like to admit with coercion on his end instead of... well, EXACTLY what she went through, plus his added bonus of ADHD and gods know what else. Now, the issue is that he doesn't know. He doesn't know any of it, he doesn't know what coercion is labeled as(THAT was hard for me to figure out and apply, let me tell you), and he thinks that his twitches and hyperfixations and pacing and quick talking are normal.
Being a demon and able to read peoples minds and souls, Mica does.
And she finds out immediately, as opposed to the normal AU where they find out years later.
She waited a short time to tell him because... I mean, how do you tell someone that? It wasn't easy, and he admittedly didn't take it too well, as one would quite obviously.
But he swore he was fine and that life would return to normal, or as normal as it was with a demon girlfriend lounging around. No matter what she said, he swore he'd be ok. He WAS ok.
... Wasn't he? These conflicting emotions were fine, right...? The sudden nightmares, tightening chest and disorientation were normal?
Maybe?

//He does end up being... relatively ok. Just like the regular AU, it takes a bit to adjust to the knowledge, but he's able to function decently well and it doesn't effect his 'work', just his personal life. I mean, to be fair, he's also got Mica to deal with, and being around a loose cannon like her is bound to take your mind off things.//
