I have a right to call you a man even if you identify as a woman.
I have a right to call you my dude even if you are a woman.
I have a right to call you a nigger, but I won't because that word's just a cheap way to get a rise out of people with thin skin; anyone it'd work on I'd rather hand-craft a more personal insult. That said, treating this specific word and no others like the name of Voldemort only makes it retain its power and euphemistically calling it "The N word" is for pussies who lack strength of conviction. I don't think it should be completely forbidden, but I'm going to always be very niggardly with its application and never use it as an ad-hominem attack because I have some sense of decorum.
No matter what I say, no matter how vile you think it is, my words don't give you a right to assault me. If you make an attempt to harm me, I do have a right to self-defense and if I have any reason to believe you might try lethal force (such as, say, proclaiming that you wish to kill me) I have a right to respond in kind, as though you are an active threat to my life.

I mean, I don’t get triggered into a complete mental breakdown any time someone calls me a “beaner” or a “wetback” but I still think words like that have (rightfully) been engrained as taboo in our society for good reason. Slurrs retain their meaning, and there is no way to make them lose the impact that they have on people as long as they remain in our vocabulary. And yes, people technically have a “right” to use those words because of the first amendment, but I in turn have a right to be just as hateful to the people who use them. I don’t like the idea of censoring everything that people say for the sake of preventing others from simply getting offended, but if someone is blatantly spewing hate speech, they can go fuck themselves.
I'll defend the right of racists to expose themselves so long as other people have a right to tell them they're wrong. What we don't need in the world are double standards about allowing some racists to have a platform so long as they're picking on acceptable targets and nobody's allowed to criticize them while other people are annihilated on sight for saying something bad about a protected class.
