super sloppy color practice - i like the black and white painting method but getting the colors to look right on it is tricky. i also wanted to try out painting on sai2 because sai1 won't calibrate with my huion no matter what i do :"D

i must say i probably /wouldn't/ recommend a huion/screen tablet for a beginner, especially if you don't have a stand for it. i thought that having one would allow me to keep it in my lap and minimize back pain, but it actually made it worse lol. the screen space is very very nice, but a bit overwhelming, and screenless wacoms are just as good as someone who's been using one for 10+ years

anyways, this is a shot for my WIP story "vargan: blood of the norn". this is not exactly how i imagined it, it was more confined and less colorful (it /did/ take place in a pine forest but there were more grays and reddish browns) because the mood is supposed to represent conviction. but this was good practice anyways, i'll do a few more environment shots to get it right!
