Problem is, you never really know if their asleep, or away, or just ignoring you. Sure, you could believe them but you never really know! That's what gets me Xc

My boyfriend did this once; I stayed up all night at my computer because I was worried sick that he had gotten hurt or something xD

yup, it happens to me a lot too, mi wolf use to fall asleep while chating... now i'm used to it, but the first time this happend i was terribly worried...

All I ask of them is to communicate that they're going to be busy/not in the mood/may pass out soon.
I always end up feeling like an ass for msging them so much when they aren't replying.

I don't use a telephone to IM. Most of the time, when I send text messages on my phone, they're along the lines of "Call me" or "I'm at the door". Most of my phone conversations are about the same way!

Usually when I chat on the computer (or work the HF bands with PSK31) I'll be sure to give a sign off or say something about having a hard time staying awake, end the conversation, and then hang it up.

I wonder if just being older makes me more polite, if growing up with simpler technology gave me a different sense of etiquette, of if I'm just weird?

Ah, I always make sure I say bye to everyone before I leave, unless I have to leave very suddenly or the internet cuts out :P

I try to be very conscious of manners in person and on the net ^^
