Done for my final art project in AP Art, a salamander walking on lava. The picture is kind of a pun within itself in a few ways. The species of salamander here is the common fire salamander, so I wanted the picture to have something to do with fire, and lava seemed more fitting than it physically walking on fire, plus it's prettier, I love how lava looks xD Salamanders were also once believed to be created from fire, since they would hide in half rotted logs and when people go to burn them, the salamanders would emerge, which led them to believe that they came from the fire, instead of their true intentions, which was to escape it x3
The scan didn't get the lava as good as I wanted, it really has more contrast, and the dark parts of the lava is much darker. It's actually more eye-burning in real life lol
Materials: Salamander: Marker base, prismacolor colored pencil details
BG: Watercolor base, prismacolor details, lava splatter: acrylic paint with prismacolor touch ups.
Time taken: Not entirely sure, don't time myself, but it would probably come out around 6-8 hours.
