Copy of a panel from the Pogo of 4 July 1950, part of the famous storyline that introduced Aunt Granny's Bitter Brittle Root, which had fantastic and story-generating properties until it settled down into just being what characters talked about getting to drink. This was surprisingly fun to draw, I think because it turns out characters are way easier when you can cover up half of them. The thought of putting in all those trees and swampy terrain intimidated me, but it turns out if you just allow yourself to do an impressionistic piece, some lines and some strong patches of dark? It turns out well.

The subject was fun, so I'll probably draw some more Macro Pogo, or other characters too.
I have to confess I was joking about this being from the actual comic strip, though. So far as I'm aware there was never a size-growth sequence in Pogo. But my knowledge of the strip past 1961 is sporadic. And I would not be surprised if there were a comic book on the side where the characters ran through a fairy tale with giants.
