It's one of the last warm summer August nights in the little community of Duran, NM...and Clarence Coyote, the cub from 2018, and his sweetheart Cheryl are spending it together in the community-built treehouse named "Fort Duran". Everybody in the community knows how much these two have been in love with each other by the number of times they've been doing this. On this night Cheryl points out a falling star moving across the night sky. "I don't know how you do it in your century," she whispers to Clarence, "but here we close our eyes and make a wish." "Oh, we do that in my century too," replies an excited Clarence. "Okay, then, let's do it," says Cheryl as the two of them embrace each other and close their eyes. As usual, Cheryl dreams of Clarence staying in 1960 as the two of them grow up and get married...and the song "The Chapel of Love" by The Dixie Cups is playing in her mind. But a different song is playing in Clarence's mind: "Should I Stay Or Should I Go?" by The Clash. Though he misses his birth family, he's afraid the time machine that brought him to 1960 will be fixed, and he and Cheryl - and all his other friends - will have to part company.
